Just something I read recently....

Live simply.
Don't clutter up your life with too many things.

Take care of yourself.
Get enough sleep; eat healthy foods.

Think positively.
Fill your mind with uplifting images.

Be cooperative.
Resist the common tendency to want things your own way all the time.
Try to see another point of view.

Get involved in a good cause.
Feel like you are making a difference in the world, even if it's in a small way.

Live one day at a time.
Make the most of the moment.
Yesterday is gone, and today will be, soon enough.

Exercise.

Do something you really enjoy.
Restore yourself.
Maintain balance.
Devote time to all aspects of your life: spiritual, emotional, family, career, community, physical, mental, material.

Give yourself credit where credit is due.

Realize you can't do everything.

EveWasFramed,

I agree with everyone of those things, but outside forces still can get a hold of you.

I am disabled with epilepsy, depression and OCD. I haven't been able to work since 1985. Starting January 1, I was given one last month of one of my anti-convulsants, and 2 anti-depressants that my insurance company covered. Now they are not going to pay for them anymore. Out of all the years I was disabled, this is the first time that I was stable for more than 1 1/2 years. I have been doing well for 4 years now on these medications. There is no other insurance plan in NJ for people who collect SSD and have Medicare. They told me I would have to pay for the medications. The total is approximately $950, which is almost what my check is from SSD. I am so afraid of slipping back into staying in bed for days with depression.

Please don't offer any advice if you have not gone through or know someone that has a chemical balance that causes depression. The epilepsy speaks for itself. I have no support from my family and have no friends. But, if, which I can't see how not, I start to slip back again, my family will be the first to say "snap out of it!" If I flippin' could, I would! I would love to be working right now...my loneliness isn't as bad as my boredom trying to fill up all the days. Nothing I do is significant.

The only thing I can do is HOPE, and that is the reason I continue to live...I want to see how this wonderful (LOL!) life ends. And, I do find something everyday to hold onto, even if it is the fact that we have running water and some people don't!

Dear EveWF -- I adore your post! I printed it out, (lol) "framed" it and then hung it on my "Wall of Fame". Thank you so much. Best, LG:)

Great list and some of the things i forget so easily.

yeah, i agree. a very good list, Eve :) i don't do far too many of these, too.
thank you so much for the good reminder :)

Realize you can't do everything.

Agreed accept for the last part about not being able to do everything.

This breeds in people's minds that mediocrity is okay, and being mediocre results in feeling mediocre.

What makes you think I haven't/don't?

And this wasn't an advice thread - it was just something I read and thought others might like to read, nothing more. I wasn't attempting to offer a "cure" for anything.

Good luck with the things you're suffering through however and I hope the forum has helped just a bit.

No one can do everything and anyone who thinks they can, is doomed for disappointment. THAT is the simple reality of the matter.

Evewasframed,

I am so sorry. What I wrote was not for anyone in particular. I should have written it, and I don't know and I hope you haven't gone through any thing like that!

I have gotten feedback from people (and not even on the forum), including my family, that say just shake it off! So I went ahead and ASSUMED (and you know what that means!) that I might get that kind of feedback.

The forum has helped alot, and thank you for being so kind in your reply. Some people wouldn't have been so understanding.

Again, I am sorry to everyone for writing such a generalized thing.

:(

I want to correct my last post. I got so upset that I wrote what I did that I made a typographical error:

What I meant to say is: I SHOULD NOT have written it!

Sorry, again.

It is okay. Being something you're not, or pretending that you can do and be everything that you're not, can make you go insane. That can mentally break people down. Not everyone needs to be a super hero in order to live a great life.

Great list, Eve.

No need for an apology at all. There are actually a couple of the things in the list that (for me) are extremely difficult to do, such as "think positive" for example. Who can think positive when there are so many negative things going on in their lives? So I know what you mean -you can't just "shake" some things off. :p
