Her name is Kelli Palfy -not famous, but well known - and I wrote to her about my issues because she is one of the very few specialists around on male sexual abuse.

Hmm, well, I can't say she made too good of a first impression with me.
Maybe try another psychologist? I agree, it might be hard to find one that has a background in dealing with that issue.

Either way, as others have said, happy birthday.
I'm actually in the same boat, I just turned 38 not long ago myself.
I see-saw between feeling like I have more potential than this, should be doing better than this, and the hope that things will change if I think harder, and try harder -
to feeling like I'm a powerless, hopeless victim of biology and bad luck.
I hate it, and it's so important to me to escape.

I hope you can figure out what's been holding you back - I will try not to derail this further with mine - and that you're able to move past this to a healthy and happy dating life.
The good news is, you only have to succeed once - you only have to find that one special person to have something real and lasting with. And if you ask me, I think we all deserve that, at least.

They are already very expensive without providing anything beyond being a simple doll though. I read that they cost around 5000$. If you add robotics on a level of Boston Dynamics you're already at 500.000$ - without AI capable of speech recognition/synthesis...

dolls are far less expensive now,, between 1 and 2 grand will get you something quite serviceable. shop around and avoid overseas dolls. stick to amuuuuurican made.

Shopping in 'Murica would be overseas for me, I'm on the other side of the pond. But I'm not interested in getting such a thing anyway. Nothing can replace a human being. But dolls/robots should still be available to others who are interested in such products.

Never mind the robots...

With all this AI hype, I'm expecting (more like dreaming) that a radical revolution will transform society in an unprecedented way. Money won't matter anymore - everyone will be give a certain amount for free- and we'll all do whatever we wish: be painters or ballet dancers etc
And wake up each morning - as I was reading in a book describing the Flower Power promiscuous era - in a bed with a brunette and a blonde, spoiled for choice.

Never going to happen because it's against human nature. The financial elite will never give money away for free, they rather find new ways to exploit the common people. It's also highly questionable if we ever get a strong AI that deserves to be called intelligent. The AI bubble is already popping because people realize how useless it is.

With complexity in machines comes dysfunctionality. With simplicity in humans comes evil.

i have a CEDAR declicker and it is a complex machine but very reliable. I am a simple human and I like to think that I am not evil. but I also realize that, by and large, to L>I>V>E is to be E<V<I<L to a variable extent.

Declickers are not complex. All you need is an averaging function (usually a filter) triggered by a detector that has been calibrated to react to certain frequency and volume range.

One of the problems of "intelligent" *** robots and complex machines in general is the inability to control such machines if you don't know how they work. What data do they send to the cloud? How much companies have access to the data and what do they do with it? And are the servomotors really broken after a wild night or did the producer mess up a software update? You have no knowledge about what's going on.

declickers/decracklers are far more complex than is commonly known. I have many years experience using them and noting their defects. and to anybody who vomits "I have no knowledge of what's going on" i will reply FOAD.

Why do you say that?
I wasn't referring to people who live in small towns but people with very simple mindsets caused by a lack of intelligence, emotional ripeness or a combination of both. Such people can be found everywhere. An example for the first case would be people who have the bright idea to put their dog in the washer to clean it or in the microwave to dry it. An example for the second case would be people who get annoyed by the barking of their dog, and instead of calming it down they kill it without any empathy and remorse (Shutting it off like an object - sociopaths and psychopaths are known for such behavior).

I'm an audio engineer. I built my own declickers in the past. They are really not that complex. Making a good declicker comes down to using proper hardware/code and calibrating detector thresholds properly to avoid over- or undershooting so the listener never hears the effect working.
