I've just joined this forum so most of what i have to say may be old news to a lot of people, but i just want to have my say regarding myself, for many years now i have found myself becoming more and more distant from people, and mainly following a relationship breakup i hid myself away from all friends, as time passed i chose to keep myself away from situations where new friendships can be made and settled into a life of solitued, many years have passed and many problems have developed since then and now i find myself not knowing how to go about rebuilding, i'm here writing this mainly hoping for advice and ideas on how to reconnect with the outside world but i guess also as a form of personal therapy if that makes any sense

I suppose the only thing I could suggest would be to start going out - join a club or group that does an activity that you enjoy. Get used to being around people, talking to them. Talking here is a good start, of course. Good luck and Take care.

Thanks I'm Fine, what you say is good advice and although i am a member of a gym it is still very hard to maintain the motivation without giving up in the early stages, and i find it increasingly difficult to be calm and be confident in places with a high number of people

Can you go when there are fewer people around? Ease into it slowly, wait until you're happier when that number of people before moving on to a higher number. Desensitise yourself, so to speak. Does that make sense? It would be a shame if you stopped because there were too many people.
