I hate myself,

Now please help me :).

All I can think of is dismissing all negativity . .
Easier said than done, though.

Also, perhaps creating a more positive environment,
And regular exercise . . .

Volunteer as a firefighter, hang around your station a lot to learn things and go on lots of calls and master the skills of the trade. Hang out with the guys, even if it's difficult and awkward at first. You'll learn to socialize better and eventually make lifelong friends. My first year was an anxiety-filled hell, but it turned out to be the key which literally saved my life. Without it I would still be 100% in my shell.

I know a somewhat mentally-handicapped kid who volunteers with one of the really small departments up north. His duties are somewhat limited, but he still helps out, goes to all the trainings, has his place and is treated like part of the crew. If he can do it, anybody can. Hop on the right department and you might even earn a buck here and there for responding to calls or be able to pull shifts at the station.

Firefighter is a good one :) don't want to add to the spam, but I loved the books by this guy Lindenfield and nathaniel Branden (i think he wrote the six pillars of self-esteem) - I found useful to set some small goals every day, not too difficult, so everyday you are a winner :)
