A bunch of years ago I played a game called Discworld made by Terry Pratchett (of monty python) and there is a bar when you can order something called Counter Clockwise Wine.

Basically the idea is that you feel the effect of the drink BEFORE you drink it.

So why am I bringing this up now?

Well I am beginning to notice that on days when I plan to drink I will actually start to feel a bit of a head buzz just taking out the beer, knowing that I'll be drinking it a few minutes later.

When I first encountered the drink I thought the concept was clever, but it didn't seem to work for me because hey, what if you feel the effect and decide not to buy the drink? Plus I don't really drink that often. I might aim to get drunk once or twice a month, aside from that I may have a beer or two every now and then.

Well the truth is you CAN feel the effect and not open the drink. You can decide to drink another night and it will go away. I think. I haven't actually tested this yet as it only happens when I KNOW I'm about to drink.

I suppose it could just be psychological. Perhaps when we know we're about to do something and anticipating it we get a taste of what we remember which we appropriately bring to the surface in anticipation of whats about to happen.

Regardless, it's nice to have gotten to a point where this makes sense to me, and now I get what he was referencing...

Anyone have any experiences to add?

I'm pretty sure I've experienced this effect with a few other things; like when you wake up, know you have to work, and in your mind you're already there at your job kinda...

Well it could just be me... I did do acid in the past. So could be one of those "permanent effects" that keeps things interesting... What most happened though, was that my handwriting went from sloppy to really awesome and the tracer effect when I look at my hands never really went away, lol

I have never heard of that effect but it did bring pavlov's dog to mind.

I experience something like this, but with wimminz.

I get all excited about being around them BEFORE I actually get near them. :p
