Hey!

I was just wondering if there are any other fans of H.P. Lovecraft at these forums?

I have to say that "getting to know" him and reading his stories have changed my life. I can't really explain how, he certainly wrote about some very interesting things such as the insignificance of mankind compared to other, greater (and in this case more terrible) things. Also, the person he was and the life he lived was very interesting to read about. :)

You can learn more about him and his writings here: http://www.hplovecraft.com/

I've only read "The Call of Cthulhu", so I can't exacly call myself a fan. I liked it tho, I guess I could go to the library and read some more of his works, but then it would be in dutch, that kind of ruins the whole experience. And reading an e-book is tiring for your eyes. Ah well, someday when I have a lot of time on my hands...

Indeed, "The Call Of Cthulhu" is one of his best. :) I read all of his stories in english, as you say, it really adds to the experience even though it can be a bit difficult at times!

H.P. Lovecraft is amazing he ranks as one of my favorite authors. It's like he took up what Edgar Allen Poe(who I'm also a big fan of) started and added so much more to the whole psychological insanity kinda thing

I've been a big Lovecraft fan since I was a kid. I too became interested in not only his stories, but the man himself. I was fascinated by the fact that this unassuming, quiet New England gentleman could write such bizarre and horrifying fiction.

I'm still waiting for a decent film to be made based on his work. There have been several attempts in the past, but they generally fall into the "in name only" category. I have yet to be impressed.

However, if you're into computer games "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth" was a lot of fun.

I have read a little of his writing. Probably only about a dozen stories. Haven't decided what i think yet.

Lovecraft is my favorite writer ever. I re-read his stories every couple months. I'd even go as far as saying that reading Lovecraft changed me as a person.

I have a sticker on the rear window of my truck that says "Miskatonic U."...

Most people just assume it's where I went to school.

Hah, I can imagine. That's pretty funny, actually. I would definitely have wanted to go there if it had been a real place. ;)

Anyways, for us Lovecraft fans:

It seems like the new movie is coming along nicely. I've been looking forward to it for some 2 years now!

I hope you give him a try sometime. I think some people have trouble getting past Lovecraft's writing style. It's a shame, because underneath it there is usually an imaginative story.

I don't read much but Lovecraft is simply awesome, my personal favorites are The Dunwich Horror and The Rats in the Walls.

I bought two of his books the other day. Actually I bought three but one of them was written entirely by August Derleth. o_o Gosh was I pissed. They had H.P.'s name in BOLD on the cover of the book and then below that August's name in small print. I thought the entire book was Lovecraft stories. Grr.

Never buy a Ballatine Book (it's a publisher) unless you look VERY CAREFULLY at the cover.

I look forward to reading Lovecraft's works though :p

Lovecraft had a number of "disciples" that picked up the torch when he passed away. I've read some of Derleth's stories and they're not bad.

I hope you enjoy the book anyway.

Derleth was one of the worst of Lovecraft's original disciples imo. Clark Ashton Smith or Robert Bloch are where it's at. Some of the others put out an enjoyable tale or two. I just realized I have almost as many books by Lovecraft imitators as I do by Lovecraft himself
