I'm Dan, from Utah. I've semi-recently ended a long term relationship, it was dead long before it officially ended. I've felt very alone for a long time now. I'm very introverted, it generally takes me a long time to become comfortable around people, which has been a struggle. I moved to Utah for a job opportunity, relying on my ex as my only known person in the area. That became a crutch, and led to me falling into habits that has now caused me to still not know too many people around here. Nights and weekends since we've split have been generally by myself. Sometimes it's difficult for me to not even speak a word to another person for a few days over the weekend when I'm not working. I'm used to having a number of close friends back home (NY). I just feel a little lost these days, like I'm going to be alone for a long time because of how difficult it is for me to talk to new people.

Anyway, there's my little story. Other than that I'm a 28 year old engineer who enjoys sports and video games. I'm a soccer and hockey goalie (i would choose the solo-positions on team sports, wouldn't I?). I'm trying to get into cycling a bit lately for some more exercise in my life. I like watching a lot of movies too. Being in Utah, I may try out skiing or snowboarding one day. I'm kinda a nerd who likes sports a lot too. I like a lot of music, big into ska and hardcore/metal stuff. They don't go well together, but so what? I like energetic music. Makes for real fun concerts. I'm reading the Song of Ice and Fire series now too. Been slow at it, reading in spurts.

That's enough about me I guess. Looking forward to getting know everyone on here better. The internet is easier to get to know people for me. Thanks everybody.

Welcome!

And sorry about the situation.

Perhaps you can try joining meetup and seeking out interest groups in Utah? Or play sports at the local club so you can meet people? Volunteering maybe? I made a lot of good friends by volunteering. And conversations came easy because we work for a common goal so it wasnt awkward or challenging.

Good luck!!
