Hi all,

I have been thinking about social contacts, friends and loneliness a lot recently and found this forum after doing a web search.
My location is Germany, I am male and was born in '86 (so, I am 26 at the moment).
I was hoping to find some people on the same wavelength as me here.

As I work from home on a freelance base, I do not have to (or get to?) go some workplace every day where there would be the opportunity to meet new friends. So I just hang around with my family on a somewhat regular base and occasionally -well, it has become rather rarely- one couple I have been friends with for years.
Through them, I have met some other people, but they are their friends not mine and even though I got along well with some of them, we didn't become friends…

I am into fiction. A lot of time I spend reading as well as watching movies and TV shows. I love stuff like Eureka, Warehouse 13, Game of Thrones, TBBT, Buffy, Futurama, Simpsons, South Park - this list could go on and on. Nerd stuff = awesomeness. I also like rock music (classic, alternative, punk, indie etc.) but do not limit myself to genres - whatever kind of music sounds good gets in my playlists. Other interests: history, puns, animal rights, veganism, pc/mac.

Time out of the house is usually limited to grocery shopping, jogging and going for random cruises in my car. It's not like there isn't anything else to do, I just don't like doing anything / going anywhere by myself.

I have a hard time getting to know new people because I am rather introverted and do not have the highest self-esteem. If I don't know if somebody will like me, I can not really open up to them - and how do you become somebody's friend without opening up to them? Right… You don't. I think I might have Asperger's but that's kinda irrelevant because it wouldn't help me changing the current situation.

Alright, I guess that was my introduction.
