A New York prison employee charged with aiding two convicted murderers in their escape from prison was supposed to meet the pair and drive them to an undisclosed wooded area about seven hours away, according to the county's district attorney.

Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie said Joyce Mitchell had planned to meet Richard Matt and David Sweat at a power plant near the prison the night of their escape. Been hearing about this a lot since those two men escaped, my mom is bewildered by the entire thing. Apparently the woman who helped them escape has a history of fraternizing with prisoners so why the hell she was allowed any kind of contact whatsoever is beyond reason. Both men were allowed privileges because of "good behaviour" yet one of them killed a deputy and was serving a life sentence and the other kidnapped and butchered his boss and was serving 25 to life. Plus one of the men has escaped before. There is something seriously wrong here.

Yes she allegedly already gave the convicts items while they were in prison. I guess the prison system screwed up and they think putting her in jail is going to fix the systematic issues they obviously have.

The whole escape of the convicts reads like the movie Escape from Alcatraz where they had power tools too. How did the correctional officers miss power tools in their cells? Don't they do shake-downs? I guess not.

So, update to this story is that a corrections officer was charged with giving the prisoners meat with drill bits inside and helping them hide their items from officers that would search their cells.

Also the two at-large convicts have been taken care of. One was shot dead upon discovery because he was brandishing a gun about and the other…Matt Sweat…was apprehended 2 miles from the Canadian border and is back in jail again.

I was thinking these guys would never get caught due to lack of leads but I'm glad they were.
