Have had a few relationships that ended after 2 years or so, and have been single again for about that long.

My last girlfriend didn't approve of me joining the military, so we broke up. Anyway job and lifestyle wise it's been completely worth it as I've never been happier. To boot it's easy to find a group of single guys to hang around even at my age (28).

That said, sometimes it's *really* difficult to hang out with them. Every weekend their every thought is on hitting the clubs and getting laid. I've gone a few times, danced a bit, had a few conversations with the girls there but I can't help but get really... really bored. Don't get me wrong, I like getting some as much as the next guy but I have that ass-backwards mentality that I want sex to be a consequence of being with someone rather than being the driving purpose of going out.

Reasons I don't like going also involve the loud music, the money you spend on alcohol / cab rides / ********* clothes and the fact that you don't even get to hang out with your buddies when you are there because then you're cockblocking their own attempts. Even if they didn't think that, they bolt in all directions of the club in their attempt to dance and pick up.

Worse is that other events I get invited to by people end up changing into going to the club part way through, so now I'm wary about accepting any invitation to any party or gathering they do because inevitably someone will say they want to hit the bar and everyone will agree. So then I have that awkward choice of being the ass that tells his friends he would rather *not* hang out with them at the bar (which is funny because you end up not hanging out there anyway) or having to go and spending the next 3-4 hours being bored out of my ******* skull because I'm rarely even generally interested in the girls I talk to there.

Honestly, I'd rather just go to the pub! quieter music, better atmosphere and I get to actually hang out with my friends. But of course there's lack of available poon so that suggestion is right out when brought up. Even my gay coworker tells me that that doing that would be really gay, heh. (He genuinely likes dancing with the girls at the club - even though he has no intention of hooking up).

I like my buddies though, they're great people otherwise. They're also really the only crowd I can hang out with as I feel really awkward hanging around the married couples. I get that third wheel vibe from them when I do, even though I generally enjoy their quieter activities more. It's really all or nothing as far as the military is concerned, you pretty much have to hang out with your coworkers since you're sent to semi isolated locations where that's all they have.

That last bit isn't too relevant to my point, I just felt like sharing an extra bit of the situation. Even with it's disadvantages, I couldn't imagine any other life. :)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with disliking the club scene. Sure, it's fun to go out and snag some easy chick every now and then... but to have that as your current main life goal?

I think your friends (nice as they may be) are the ones missing out here.

It honestly sounds like you have a wider view of the world (or life in general)... and you'd rather do something with your life instead of scoring skanks.

I don't know... maybe you should find some different guys to hang with, eh? There are always going to be dudes out there who are willing to take it easy, have a few beers at the pub, and watch the game with you... instead of ditching you at a club while they fulfill their own selfish, mindless desires.

*shrug*

Just a thought.

Good answer, Mr Bad.

I really relate to your post, Limlim. hanging out in a pub can be a far better atmosphere for chilling and conversing than a club. though recently, i have been doing more clubbing than pubbing ;). and i don't even drink alcohol lol.

but yeah. insightful post, I think you have a good grasp of what you would prefer to spend your social nights doing. i'm with BJD, just see if you can find a buddy or two to go to the pub with. good luck man :)

Limlim, I really like your distinction of a pub and a bar. I'm a recovered alcoholic living in a college town, so my idea of the bar/club scene is a bunch of horny 20 somethings looking to get trashed and get laid. I don't drink and some random floozy just doesn't do it for me. I'd be bored out of my mind in a place like that.

However there are times where I'll go out with some friends and shoot some pool or just bs at a bar and that I can handle just fine. My friends ask me how I handle that and I tell them that it really is about the atmosphere. When I explain the college crowd my 30 something friends usually agree with me, they'd be bored there too. And they still drink. Describing it as a pub or a bar makes that speech a little more accessible to people who might not get it.

Went to bar last week...4 chicks got in my truck. Went home with them. :p
It was totally insane. I just love it when women throws themselves at me.
Didn't even have to use lines or hitted up on them. Was just being myself as always.
I love it. I still have it. I'm the ****..hahahaaa
Yeap reminds me of stuff I was doing when I was in the USAF.
It was fun and thats all its suppost to be...
Though one of the gals have a major interest in me...it's all good. Go with the flow.
Whatever happens..happens. I'll leave myself open for her anyday. Made out with her
She wants me. She's callin me. Shes sweet, wild, hawt N smexy. I love it.
If she wants to take it to the next level. I might consider it.
I'm a recoverying alcoholic/addict..I relasped. There's a pattern... everytime I get drunk I get laid
or end up in bed with 2 or more women. Did my forth step and that was also a part of it.
I'm single..so I'm not tripping. Not a bar fly or haning in bars everyday or drinking everyday.
Don't even think about it or obsess about it. Okj..i might consider not ever taking a drink again
if I get into a commitment with someone again. I dont really have relationships issues...I can connect
and relate to alot of women. Obviously Ive been dating lots of women lately....
It's the commitment of being with one woman wanting to nag..nag..nag at me when other chicks smile at me.lol

Were all going to die. Jenni died and she wasnt even an alki.
The so call perfect woman was taking out of my life without my permission.
She had everything going for her. A good career, family vaules and lives a healthy life.
Very, very beautiful inside N out.
Life is way..way too short for me to be trippin or going mental of trying to live the right way or the path
thats what I got out of that experince of Jenni's death.

My life changed...it got turned upside down. Children died on me, relationship ends. lost jobs, found new jobs....
Trying to adjust to all of these changes thats happening. Going with the flow. Not beating up on myself.
Not expecting anything. If opportunities comes..I'll put my best foot forward. It's all good.

Maybe u just prefer to want to live your life a different way @ the moment.
I got married , got into long term relationship...became a husband N daddy. (did it clean N sober)
At the end of the day...I wasnt examp from life's crazy tragadies no matter what path I took.

Hopefully ur meet a gal that's wanting to live that same life style you want. Do whatever makes you happy
and live it to your fullest while you can.

I'm not a drinker but sometimes I think going to a bar would do me some good. I am so socially screwed up it's not even funny.
