Based on your income I say no to buying the car. Insurance can range, I pay ~1300 a year on insurance (which I can't pay monthly, I can pay it in 1 to 4 payments) and I'm 35 with a clean driving record (well now that my speeding tickets have gone past that 5 year period) and my car was brand new when I bought it. Plus there is what you might spend on fuel for the vehicle not to mention the upkeep. Your plan to save for college is a much better idea. I had the money for my car but got a loan anyway to help build credit. My monthly payment on my loan was ~288 bucks which had to be paid within 5 years with interest. Not trying to scare you from buying a car but it is a huge expense. My mom actually loaned me money to pay off my loan because with the interest I wouldn't have gotten it paid off in full on time, and then would have had extra charges. I make what you get a month a week too. Sometimes when you buy a used car, insurance companies will charge you more then if you bought a new car. It also depends on the age of the vehicle, the size, etc. Seeing as you are a young driver your insurance will also be more. There are things you can to do lower that but that would involve your parents and that seems like something you wouldn't want to do.

BUT if you really want to send a message to your parents go for the walk, take a few cars for a test drive. :D

I do that too when I watch porn, wonder what she'd look like before the train ran through her...oh wait we're talking about the car. Oops my bad. O.O LOL

I wouldn't by that car, you will have nothing but problems with it.

*sigh* -.- you're probably right.

Auto insurance depends on sooooooo many things... type of car, your age, where you live, etc etc etc. So the only way to get a decent quote on that is to go visit an insurance agency and just ask them. Shop around, see if Geico really CAN save you money in 15 minutes or less. lol

^LOL yeah that or the other commercial with the overly bubbly brunette esurance or something.

Get a bike maybe? You'll be able to get exercise, which feels good, and you'll be more mobile. Only problem is streets/sidewalks. Some states don't want you to ride your bike on the sidewalk, so they give you a pussy **** bike lane to ride in next to ALL the cars... That's uncomfortable, and then all the cars driving by uncomfortably dodge you and get pissed.... So it depends on your area... But really, cars are expensive, you're better off paying for your education. A good education will get you the job you need so you can get a car. If you're not in debt after your finished school, that's even better!
