I just watched a TV preacherman refer to a naked woman as "evil."

THAT my friends, is why religion is threat to humanity.

I'd say one of the biggest threats to humanity, aside from fundamentalist zealots, are the potential risks from novel technologies.

Since almost everything we rely on also depends on a functioning electrical, computing and internet system, anything that would damage this, from a solar flare to a high atmosphere nuclear explosion, could cause very widespread harm.

Hmm.
Funny. I would have said cola. 😉

so a remake of The Brave Little Toaster but make it Terminator style.
I will ask for something quick and painless when that day comes...

Honestly I think lack of religion (devout European based Christianity) is the primary cause of the downfall of the Western world.
And yeah, there are charlatans out there.
But still, I cannot agree with bashing religion altogether because of the few fakes.
More Charlemagnes, less charlatans. That's the formula.

Religion is the dumbing down of humanity,. First, and original sin mentioned in the Bible is knowledge. Donald Trump reflects that ignorance brutally, as does Faux "news."

I take the Discordian approach:

"All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense."

🥴(y)

ProZac might help with that

OK. You don't like Religion, President Trump and Fox News.
I don't like Socialism, Bernie Sanders (or Biden and his handlers) and CNN.

You sound a lot like the lady claiming she foun evidence of voter fraud from voices in the wind and messages in song lyrics. I like reality and facts. Not Tucker Carlson proven lies

I have to admit, I'm kind of curious why you like Trump.

He was a jock, a bully, he was literally exactly the kind of guy I thought you said you grew up hating.

He's pretty much the inspiration for all the kinds of people you don't like.
All the jocks, frat boys, bond traders and stuff like that, all those guys wish they could be Trump.
All the gang-bangers and pimps wish they could be him too.
It's the same mentality/personality, they are like mini versions of him, and he's like the ultimate form of it - the Dark Triad, the Darwinian jerk, the socially dominant personality.

He's not an orderly or smart person either. You've seen the way he talks, it's like fifth-grade level English at best. He treats his wives terribly, and regardless of what he says, his behavior suggests he is irreligious and either amoral, or immoral.

He hasn't convinced me that he understands most complexity at all. I think he's just blundered through life on a combination of a rich background, where he simply has too much money to fail, as well as being good at outsourcing the consequences for failure on other people (the only complexity I think he is actually good at) - and his whole lifestyle design business. It's not so much that he's an actual business genius with numbers, strategies, inventions and innovations, problem-solving, and creating wealth/value, but rather that he's good at branding and marketing himself. Basically he puts on a suit, yells a lot, brags about how much money he has, and people eat it up, they think "YEAH! BUSINESS! SUCCESS!"

It's not so much that he really IS a successful businessman, as much as it is that he plays one on TV.
Elon Musk is similar - he's not really that much of an engineer/scientist/inventor, he just plays one, and sells that image/brand to people, for his own advantage.

Remember that manila folder thing, where he had all those folders and said it was all his "business" or something? What was in those folders? Probably nothing. Or that time he hugged the flag. He did a lot of showmanship, a lot of performative "business" or "patriotism", things that seemed to insult the intelligence of his base.

Also, you've shown yourself to be an articulate, thinking person - so I feel like you have to know that Trump doesn't really care about America, right?
Think about it - why would he? He has no reason to, and every reason to benefit from America's demise - from looting it, not building it.
That was the thing that got me from the beginning, back in 2015 - his whole thing about "the forgotten men" never made any sense to me. Generally, we care about people that are similar to us, right? That's who we relate to, who we see ourselves in, rather than outsiders. Trump and everyone he knows personally are all 1%ers. They aren't "the forgotten men", those people aren't his family or friends. And the people paying for memberships at Mar-a-Lago, these are the same people that outsourced "the forgotten men's" jobs to the Third World in the first place. So Trump being all mad about China and Mexico never made sense either. Why would he care about that? It doesn't affect him, or anyone he personally knows or cares about. If anything he's for it.

He even looks down on his own base, and has been caught in so many lies, has shown himself to not understand or care about his job, and blatantly uses people for his own ends.

That said - and I want to be clear - I'm not a fan of Biden or the Democratic Party either. They have their own issues that I don't like, and non-endorsement of Trump is not automatically the same thing as endorsement of Biden. But I just don't understand this.

I'm not telling you what to think, or attacking you. It's more like, I feel like Trump is not the guy you (or a lot of other people) think he is, and he doesn't really seem to align with the things you say are important to you. In fact, he seems a lot more aligned with the people and things you don't like.

I found his stated policy goals far preferable to the other choices in the past 2 elections.
Yes, I agree, he is a terrible communicator and says stupid things. Very stupid things at times.
But when the other side is pretty much doing away with our country's borders, allowing horrific crime, rioting and looting, wanting to tax hard workers even more, supporting groups like BLM and Antifa over the Cops, and pushing this "woke" crap down our throats, I really do not have a choice.

I'll vote for Governor DeSantis in the next primary, but I will vote for President Trump if he wins the primary.

Here's a real world example of what I am talking about and why I am a conservative.
I was walking back from an appt. with a escort today. It was all the way over on 10th Ave.
While I was going back to GCT, a MASSIVE gang of bicycle riders started tearing down 57th street. There was easily over 1000 of them.
They were not obeying traffic laws. In fact, they were going out of their way to break them. Not stopping for red lights, weaving between cars, riding on the wrong side of the street, and worst of all, riding on the sidewalk and coming very close to hitting people, including old people and children. One of them came very close to hitting me and I was getting ready to defend myself if I had to (luckily I did not have to). And what did I see at the very end of this unruly convoy??? Five cops on scooters following them. Not arresting them for GROSS traffic violation, but simply following them. That is what we get in leftist run cities. Mayors and DAs hamstringing the police. And this is why I vote against leftists no matter who is running against them. And let me tell you something else. Stuff like this DID NOT HAPPEN when President Trump's lawyer was running this town.

Well, I am basically left-leaning - I've always been pro-democracy, anti-hierarchy, because I feel like a lot of the time hierarchies are just accidents of birth/genetics. I feel like a person's character is more important than the muscles/looks, or money, or whatever else that someone was born to.

I don't like the Democrats because I feel like they aren't real leftists. They will take on the social issues, to throw us a bone, to say that they are doing something and to shut us up, but they are on big business' side at the end of the day, just like the Republicans. That's why the Democrats will do either nothing, or next to nothing, to stop what I feel is the main threat to America - the attack on the middle class, the thing that was supposed to make our way of life better, more advanced, evolved, and civilized than that of monarchies, dictatorships, and Third World countries.

So, while I have to disagree, at the same time you recognize Trump's flaws, and at least don't worship him mindlessly the way a lot of people seem to. Thanks for clearing that up in any case.
