I don't watch Anime anymore, so my suggestion will be outdated. I used to really like the "Green legend Ran" Movie series. Great story line, with post apoc and sci-fi elements.

The only Anime I'm big into is Yu-Gi-Oh! the original series and 5D's. GX and Zexal are crap.

Back when I watched more anime, my favorites were Escaflowne and Vampire Hunter D. I was also fond of Crying Freeman. My daughter loves Inuyasha, Ranma, and Lucky Star. X was a big fan of Gundam Wing. I recently bought the Basilisk series, but I haven't watched it to give a review. Oh, and my daughter and I both really liked Wolf's Rain.
