North Korea

Good day everyone.

I came across this video of a North Korean refugee talking about her experiences.

Everyone knows about North Korea and what the western propoganda tells us about it, so i thought it might be nice to see it from her perspective.

Of course, this could also be western propoganda, but i see that chance at only about 20%.

Then again, this doesn't sound much different from what we already know.

My Dad used to..actually I don't know the job name, but he helped disadvantaged families settle into regular (and I risk arrogance to say it) normal lifestyles once they had moved over to the UK, and he told me a story once on how a family that had been..well saved I guess, from North Korea had ripped a massive hole in the front room floor because they didn't know how to work the oven that was installed in the kitchen...like they'd ripped out wood from the stairs banister and other parts of the house, and made a fire pit in the living room to cook stuff in. Naturally the validality of his story isn't 100% since I wasn't even born then and stuff, but if it was true, then it's actually kind of sad, man.

Yeah though, video didn't really tell us anything that wasn't already known or suggested. Can see why you might consider it western propaganda though, at least how she's fairly pretty for a life of suffering, not emaciated and such..but I guess she's been "healing" for a while before making the statement. Dunno :x

I stopped over in South Korea for a day, really nice place, very modern from what I saw (very limited admittedly). What a contrast to what we know of the North.

I was told by a mate that during their last world cup campaign they altered the results (as they are ****) through their media to make them look good/or won.

Was it the recent World Cup, or the Olympics, where they stormed off the playing field when the wrong national anthem was played? (the South Korean one) And that you're not allowed to refer to North Korea as North Korea, just Korea, or suffer the consequences!

This thread is funny because I was browsing the official North Korea souvenir shop - it's just $20 to get a NK-made pillow with a propaganda picture on it. Although I would prefer one with Our Dear Leader if they sell them
