Somehow I managed to overlook this movie and the release of the trailer a while back, even though I'm a big fan of the series.

Anyhow, I thought the trailer looked rather promising. They definitely got a good cast!

im a huge fan of the alien and predator movies too. i saw the trailer for this when i went to see repo men, which was pretty good by the way. my only concern about predators is that they are being dodgy when asked about the rating. it better be R. the first AVP being pg-13 was a bad idea, the story was ok in the grand scheme of things as far as connecting the 2 species but other than that it was kind of corny. and then AVP 2 was R but other than the thing at the end with the briefcase the story was mostly about teens running around being chased by aliens and predators. thats pretty lame to me. i have hopes for this and i will definitely go see it in the theater but im not holding my breath.

I have heard rumors that Ridley Scott is planning a 2-part prequel to Alien that covers the incidents leading up to the crash of the Alien ship on LV-426.

I have heard rumors that Ridley Scott is planning a 2-part prequel to Alien that covers the incidents leading up to the crash of the Alien ship on LV-426.

That has been on and off for a couple years, he has said it was his next project a few times, he also said he was doing his take on "Brave New World" next, and even said at one point his next project would be a movie based on an old sci-fi book called "The Forever War" (good book) - that being what I would hope to see him do, despite my love for first couple Alien movies. Something that hasn't been done yet would be kind of refreshing.

3D though... I am not big on this new 3D stuff, being partially color blind, just enough where the 3D doesn't work (I actually pass most of the tests)

I think that there is a real danger of relying on 3-d as a gimmick. I agree with Scott about how the dark atmosphere of the first movie really contributed to that psychological thrill of the movie. Now if they have 3-D aliens leaping out of the screen at everyone, there is a risk of it being just a sort of cheap thrill.

But don't mind me, I am an old crank already.

Plus, it chaps my ass that I have to go spend $12 on a ticket - even for my kids - just so we can get those glasses which the theater wants you to return under the guise of recycling just so they can repackage them and resell them.

Those old paper 3-d glasses were fun and they didn't tack on an additional $3 to the price.

The price for most entertainment is crazy now - of course I am pretty thrifty (cheap) and can remember complaining about having to pay $10 to see bands like Journey, AC/DC, & The Kinks...

Oh the only thing keeping me from being a total concert whore again is the damned price. I may have to break down and go see Rush again when they play the state fair this summer, although the thought of paying some $50 makes me cringe.
