They're affectionate without getting in your face about it. My cat sits beside me and gently puts a paw on my arm when he wants more petting.
I have a cat that will literally crawl up and lie down on your face and go to sleep. He also likes to scratch his cheek on my kid's glasses making them fall off. And he loves kisses, so he's always in your face.

They don't jump all over your guests.

I have a cat that does that....the same one as above.

They'll only eat what they want instead of gorging it all at once.

Tell that to my 18 pound cat (used to be almost 20, we're working on it) Again, same cat as above.

They don't bark.

I had a cat that would bark. Not often, but everyone once in a while. But, aside from the barking, one of my cats can sound like a siren. Not the same cat as above.

They all have their unique personalities. I've always had cats that are pretty mellow, but there's some crazy ones out there.

Are you calling my cat crazy?!?! lol
He's actually the mellowest of all three of my cats, aside from what I mentioned. Well, except when one of my friends, my niece or my nephew comes over. He hates them for some reason, my niece the most. Just the sight of her has him hissing and growling. lol She swears she never did anything to him.

Ummm. . . .he sounds a little. . . 'unbalanced', shall we say. :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, I'm not one to talk. I didn't really want to say since this is the 'Why cats are better than dogs' thread, but my cat is actually a bit of an *******. Still - even being an *******, I still think cats are better than dogs. Our cat is one of those 'touch-freak' cats - you've really got to keep an eye out for signals with him. If his tail starts slowly swishing, ears go back slightly, or he gets a little tense while you're petting him, it's time to back off - otherwise he'll suddenly turn around and attack. I've gotten some nasty scratches from him. And I just posted above about leaving cats for the weekend - yep, technically you can do that. But last time we went away for the weekend, our cat was all super-happy to see us and all affectionate and then goes into my son's room and pisses all over his bed. I guess his way of saying "Yeah. . . gonna leave me all weekend, bored, while you guys go out and have fun?! **** you. . . "

Still, gotta respect that attitude that cats give off.

My last cat, a British Shorthair, had the most exquisite fur, incredibly soft and beautiful. One of many reasons I love cats, especially the ones with a really soft coat of fur.
