My mam tried to set me up with one of her single friends. She started talking about her, told me a few things. She was a bit older than me but that didn't bother me. I told my Mam I would go for a drink with her.

A week went by. I went to see my Mam again. She told me she spoke about me to her friend. Her friend wanted to see a photo of me. When my Mam showed one to her, she told my Mam she wasn't in fact single but in a long term relationship with some guy so she couldn't go for a drink with me.

My Mam apologized but I told her not to worry about it. These things happen.

Of course what probably happened was the friend didn't like the look of me but didn't want to offend my Mam because she wanted to stay friends with her, so she made up a boyfriend to get out of the situation.

Another story. I'm getting into photography and well I think some of my photo's look great. I have been buying frames and printing a copy of my photo's out using my pc. I am putting these pictures up all throughout the house. The lady where I buy the frames is very bubbly and friendly. She always says something to me 'more frames ?' etc. I have a line in my head lined up for her and she usually gives one back. There is a bit of banter between us. I have noticed if I get served by one of her assistants, she still strolls across and says something friendly. She has a great personality, funny and very up beat. I think she may wonder if I have a crush on her and I am going in for the frames as an excuse to see her. It's not really that, I do need the frames but our conversations do put a smile on my face.

It's the worst xmas by miles at work. No cameradie, no team spirit, no team work. Just awfull ! Used to enjoy working near xmas !

Well, it wouldn't be a good idea to date your mam's friend anyway. If you did go out and things didn't work out it would be very awkward for your mom and her friend. And if she really does indeed have a boyfriend (which if it's a long term relationship as well) count yourself lucky you didn't get into a mess like that.

This girl at the frame place is worth pursuing more so. Some people are just naturally nice to people, but if she's going out of her way to talk to you there might be more going on.

I just went in to see the photo frame woman. I wanted to wish her merry xmas. I bought a frame and when I was paying for it I said 'have a nice xmas' - she wished me a merry xmas too.

There was the usual banter between us. I am quiet outside of work but with her I can chat easily and give her a bit of cheek as well. Nothing rude of course. From what I can gather, she is friendly to everybody who goes in the shop. She is smaller than me, quite alot overweight and very pretty. I would say 40 ish. She has this natural charm, friendly but not loud and over the top.

Before everybody gets too excited I am sure I have spotted a wedding ring on her finger. Not 100% though !

Just be friends with her then, she sounds like a nice person to be around.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I guess your Mom assumed that she was single, because she didn't knew about her boyfriend and that she kinda liked the idea of you guys getting together...
So I'm sure it wasn't because of you. You are on alonelylife... most people here look great, they just don't believe it. :p
