Why not a return to arranged marriages, a system that worked successfully for centuries.

Romantic love is quite literally a fiction, a literary invention, and a recent one at that.

Sexual attraction is an even more recent criteria for getting into a relationship, and an even more unreliable one.

I seem to recall an inordinately expensive contemporary matchmaking company in Boston. I think it may have been
called Its Just Lunch.

People change, it's a fact. Passions fade. The things that matter are common values and common goals. Cool experienced
heads.

Ever wonder why many Hispanic persons have two last names? Arranged marriages. Using both last names announces to the world
which two families back you up, which alliance you are the cement of.

Why not just fly over there and buy a wife with traditional values, and spare yourself some grief?

a/ People want attraction, romance, the whole fantasy.

b/ Women have historically got the short end of the stick with arranged marriages - good luck selling the idea to them.

Wanting it and having it work out in the long run are two very different things. As you said, it's a fantasy. Childish.

Yes, having a higher status man who earns and provides as a husband is the short end of the stick.
