People generally promise the earth and do not deliver.

It's "Oh I'll be there for you always, no matter what". In reality it's more often than not just until they either tire of you or they move onto someone or something more appealing.

I wish I didn't have this desire for connection with people. If only I could be happy with no friends, to live a life of singledom. That would be bliss.

But I can't be happy that way. Not deep down in my heart.

There's only one person who can always be there for you and thats YOU. My mum has always said that and I used to think it was an awful way to think and really negative. Its not though its self preservation. Yes your friends shouldn't treat you like **** and yes in many cases they will help out and want to help out but no person can give that much to another whenever it is needed. The best friends try the most.

You shouldn't go into a friendship expecting that much from someone. Neither should anyone really ever promise. Its about getting the balance right.

People who treat you like a throw away commodity were never your friend anyway.

I concur.
