despite being a big sci-fi fan, i have never really seen any of ant star trek series, only the movies. at my work through the mail i rented season 1 disc 1 of the original star trek series. if i like it enough(which im sure i will) i will watch every star trek series. for those that know, what exactly am i getting myself into?

Oh, gosh. I don't like Star Trek, and when i say that, people think I don't know about it. My dad watched it when I was growing up. So I kind of had to as well. We had all the toys and stuff from it. We saw nearly every episode. Even back then, I didn't care for it. But I used to watch it, involuntarily. I suppose if you like it enough, it's a nice series to watch and get into.

All the series are rather different. I wouldn't discount one series based on your reaction to another. Personally I prefer The Next Generation And Deep Space Nine. I think they both needed a few seasons to get good though :p

Ughhhh Deep Space Nine isn't worth watching at all.

The Next Generation is probably the best series of Star Trek out there...maybe followed closely by the original series, after which comes Voyager. Just my humble opinion. ^_^

BJD... The fact that you would dismiss DS9 yet include Voyager.... *sighs* It must be something about the TV reception in Kansas o_o

Huge Star Trek marathon? I will bring the popcorn and my cuddliness.

I think I just died and went to heaven :D

a friend of mine that joined the army told me last night that i should just skip voyager and that the next generation and deep space nine were the best. we like almost the exact same stuff minus a few exceptions so i trust his judgement but ill give voyager a shot anyway.

well im off to a good start. the second disc isnt available right now... thought id try the terminator tv series since we actually have that at my store to rent. itll probbaly be pretty terrible though, lol.

The original series is the balls! Bear in mind that it is campy... purposely so. I grew up watching it every day after school, so I am biased. TNG is also good, the series took itself a bit more seriously, like... this is SCI-FI. But it worked.

If you're suggesting that the the only thing that carried Voyager as a show was a scantily clad actress, then I won't argue. It doesn't really matter though, because your Jeri Ryan is no match for my Terry Farrell.

Dax? That's your win card? If we're going just from DS9, I'd rather go with Nicole De Boer:
