Cute idea, but I think it would weird me out sitting opposite a Moomin. Not only would I be paranoid there was a camera inside it and I was soon to appear on some wacky Japanese hidden-camera show, but it'd also be a harsh reminder that I'm yet again eating lunch alone, literally staring me in the face.

Eh, if I'm in a good mood, it'd be fun - a bad mood and I'd be so pissed off. They should probably just advertise it instead of making people think an actual person wants to sit with them and then bringing a stuffed animal. Some will be offended by the "charity" of it.

It would be interesting if someone put a phone number on its forehead, like a hotline for lonely people or something, & see how many calls they get...
