It never ceases to amaze me. I remember when a woman sued I think it was Bruger King maybe McDonalds she spilled coffee on herself sued the company for the coffee being to hot and won the law suit.

People are so desperate! .... and not so dumb... especially the ones who actually WON the cases!!

Remember the case a while back where the thief / robber was breaking into the house via the roof, he fell through, and landed on a knife, then sued the woman for it! idiot!!! and if I am not mistaken, he WON!

It was McDonalds and there was a lot more involved including them having the coffee much hotter than the many restaurants so that they could serve the old coffee for a longer period before needing to make fresh.

The company had already received hundreds of complaints about the temperature of its coffee and had already paid out hundreds of thousands to settle other scalding claims.

In the case you mention the excessive heat allowed the spill to cause 3rd degree burns that required skin grafting and prolonged follow up treatment for those grafts.

As I recall she only asked that her medical bills from the spill be covered and it wasn't until McDonalds refused that sued.
