Yo!

The advantages that I have gotten by being a forum member are:

1. Free "Tech Support".(Dell charges something like $ 30 for tech support if your computer has exceeded it's warranty set by the manufacturer.) Forums have saved me an immense amount of money in tech support.

2. Having people to talk to about almost anything.

3. A sense of belonging to a family like atmosphere.

4. A place to express yourself with things such as art, music, poetry, etc.

5. One helluva pastime.

6. Giving advice to help others is a very satisfying feeling, knowing that your words do have an impact on other's lives.

Sincerely,
LK

I concur, Forums are an amazing place.

For all the reasons! We receive support, give support, and have a place where people understand us and we understand everyone else. To be honest, I would have been in deeper **** if it wasn't for this forum.

I forgot to mention all the money I've saved not having to buy strategy guides for game help. Members who are die hard gamers, save you a lot of money by giving you tips that you would normally find in guides, saving you money.

Yea forums or any other kind of social communications allow you to meet like minded people, build communities, sharing thoughts, knowledge and among other things, I've kind of learned a lot more and became a little open minded from reading forums to be honest, especially when different kind of people actually put some thoughts into expressing their opinions.

Best part of the forums? Having people to talk to. Plain and simple. :)

This place is a way to waste massive amounts of time. Plus it has actually saved me money being here because I'm not shopping online. Which in one way is good but in another its things I do need and I don't get it done because I'm lurking round here and places.

Generally though I'm not sure. The last forum I was on weirdly offered a perfect and great way to meet people and make friends but I was always too shy and insecure to do it. :(

For me I'm really happy my dad joined some because for the first time since I can remember he actually has friends and goes out socialising and to meet ups. He's been invited to weddings and things. Its been a really positive thing for him.

Everyone is nice here..well MOST everyone. I don't feel ignored or belittled...or so alone

Forums (well, this one in particular at least) remind me that there are people other than myself going through similar problems all over the world. We can empty our hearts to people who will not judge us (for the most part) and accept us for who we really are. Haha, that sounded cheesy. :)

Also, we can take all the time we need to reply. xD; I always feel pressured in real life to give a prompt answer, which messes with my speech fluidity and my words get all jumbled up.

It depends on what type of forum you're referring to.

I never stuck with the social forums I've joined in the past, and I can't say that any of them were beneficial to me. They've somehow always made the impression of a place where pretentious personalities constantly look for a chance to bash heads with you, or make you feel inferior.

I'd like to think there was something more to a forum like this one however, than exclusively killing time.

But you do have a point there.

I agree with you guys, I'd just add that reading other people's story makes me feel I'm not that f*cked up...
