I dreamt tonight that I was on my deathbed, regretting all the time of my life I wasted on pointless things. It seemed as if my youth was wasted on things that ultimately didn't matter to me; and at that old age, I had free time enough, but not enough energy in my bones to pursue what I valued.

Then I woke up, and thought that I shouldn't waste my time on pointless things, lest I should regret it later. But what choice do I have?

We all have choices, and remember, that was just a dream. The choice is you don't have to listen to your dream, or you can. It depends on what's really pointless to you.

Most youth waste their time on things that ultimately don't matter. As long as you either enjoy what you are doing and/or learn something from what you are doing, it's not really a waste of time. But you are still in your youth, you still have time. If you know what you want to do, make a plan to get there and do things that will get you there, but continue to waste at least a little bit of time. It's part of what being a kid is all about.
