theres a girl on the 2nd floor who has watched me from her balcony
all the way from my car till i grabbed the handle to the front door.
she stares out from the cave of her hoodie
and sees me catch a glimpse of her taking in the whole scene,
"****."
i felt as if she had plucked the pedal
of thought right from my brain
by seeing me for who i really am.
she saw me bite my lip and claw at my cheek,
she saw me stay quiet when i wanted to scream,
she saw me long for a love i have never had,
and she saw all the tell-tell signs that screamed,
"Wallflower!"

she slid back into the shadows feeling excited yet confused.
she was excited to actually have human contact
for the first time in months after running away
but she was also confused as to what will happen next.
it was just a look but she felt something, something special
and with that she knew she had to say something to the boy
even if it was just as simple as,
"hi."
