Hi Everyone.:)

I'm just wondering if maybe some of you can help me understand "Racism" on a deeper level. "Whites" who hate "Blacks." "Blacks" who hate "Whites".
The above seems the most common kind of racism I guess. With some, racism even extends to other races such as "Asian" or "Russian",etc.

What I don't understand is just how all this hatred comes about. Why do so many people hate others because of their race? We all have red blood coursing through our veins.

Why do we do this to each other?

God Bless.
LK

People of one culture aren't used to people of "different" cultures; they're scared of differences and change, thus, racism. In my opinion. :D

If anyone, I repeat ANYONE hates on a Russian or an Asian I will kill them myself, with my bare hands

Racism is stupid
I blame Ireland

People define themselves and their kin groups as a 'self' as distinct from the 'other'; this naturally leads to comparison, and one method of comparing favorably to the defined other is to ascribe flaws or faults in them so that the self is defined as positive contrast.

Ireland? Why?

Why not?
Gotta blame someone and, well, you know the Irish >_<

Maybe its cause most of my family is Irish... Hmm....

Why is there racism?

Because there are different races.

Crews, gangs, families, tribes.... race.

These are all social constructs which will always be fighting one another. It's human nature.

Ironically, that's one of the same root causes of racism.

Just for the record I don't blame the Irish, for everything...
Just for my family >_<

I actually preferred the South of Ireland, well, from the time I spent there XD

"Ethnocentrism is the tendency to believe that one's ethnic or cultural group is centrally important, and ... other groups are measured in relation to one's own. The ethnocentric individual will judge other groups relative to his or her own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behavior, customs, and religion."

Cultural groups can be quite small. My gang is better than your gang, my school is better than your school, my town is better than your town, my region is better than your region, or it can be quite large.

Of course there are other reasons such as stereotypes.

It's a common human nature to fear difference or change. When it comes to racism, it's likely a xenophobic reaction out of insecurity or ignorance. This may occur in a society that is largely isolated from other cultures, or a society that has seen extensive cultural diversity. It may also depend on the ideals of individual families. It is unfortunate that most humans are unable accept the variation of their species for the way it is, and still be proud of their heritage.

IMO, there will always be differences, and people will always be reluctant to seeing different people and getting to know them, where that is not a problem for it is natural, the problem starts when one race trample the other's right to live equally. E.G. Colonilization. Then an idea of a level or status is created, once from their, it can never be quite settled. The colonized will always feel the hurt, the colonizer will always find excuse.

And I think that is why if an asian comment something about other asians, though still a form of racism, it's not as bothersome as when a white person would comment something about a black person. Some form of racism shows that differences create distance, some form of racism shows that differences create an idea levels.

If I am not mistaken, racism exists on various levels among the human species. It could be triggered by a matter of race or ethnicity. Thus, racism may occur between two or more races or it could be a more complex situation between the ethnic divisions of the same race that retain slightly different physical characteristics and geographic placement.

Seems like people within larger groups always see themselves as "better" than people in other groups.
"black vs. white" racism is well-known of course but there's other types of racism or judgementalism, whatever you want to call it. Heck, I know rednecks that see themselves as better as some other groups of people. There's also racism against brown people, I've met some brown people who don't like blacks, there's racism by light-skinned blacks against darker-skinned blacks, etc, etc.
I'll bet most people here can think of a group that they think they are better than. Maybe it's feeling more superior to the uneducated or superior to people who live in suburbs. We all do it.

Some of it also has to do with what is behind superstition and mysticism. It isn't a rational thing. You can't reason with racism.

You will find that people who are really into superstition are very racist. That is why one political party is more racist then the other. Not saying any more then that.
