I live somewhere in NYC, with over 9 million people here, in a densely packed neighborhood, and long-term lonely for sure. 63 year old straight male guy here. A life-long star trek fan, I'm also into (strictly secular) Buddhism, a practitioner that is, Atheist, do-gooder, and an HSP (highly sensitive person). Despite being married for 25 years, and having 2 close friends, I'm intellectually and emotionally extremely lonely.

Thanks. Hey…. A world where poverty, disease, and (planetary) war doesn’t exist,…. That’s unique in the world of SF! Watching since I was 5. I’m 63.

Incredible core values that never let me down lol

welcome @bodycode

As a youngster and young man I was never interested in star trek. In my early thirties, I finally, for some reason, decided to give Star Trek the Next Generation a try. Wow, what an experience. Went back and watched the original, then deep space 9, then voyager, then, then..

STNG will always be my gold standard. rewatching for the 3rd time now...

Don't consider myself a trekkie; it's just the values, principles, ideals, philosophy, intrigue, culture, all of it. What a show, perhaps more than a show..

Anywho, welcome aboard. It's a bit of a ghost town here some times, tumbleweeds and all, but, plenty to read, and the occasional new comer to welcome, from time to time.

Thank you kindly! As a kid with (at the time), a pretty severe disability, growing up in anti-semitic Bronx, getting chased and beaten 5 days a week, i had TWO marks against me. One, the visible disability (who wants to hang out with the weird kid, right?), and then, being chased an sometimes beat up, 5 days a week after Hebrew School for wearing a skull cap, coming home to my family, all gathered around CRT TV (1960's!), and seeing the world through the lens of the United Federation of Planets, I realized it was all the opposite of what I was experiencing. I could see similarities between myself and Mr. Spock (blazing intellectual curiosity, completely peaceful values, etc). I also saw similarities between myself and Kirk, ever the explorer, and really loved females! I was hooked @ 5 years old. I'm 63 now (no visible disabilities, and can definitely defend myself lol). I was a pretty lonely kid. All I wanted was to make friends. All I got was bullying.

I hate Star Trek. But hey, welcome to the forum! It takes all sorts, and the more and diverse the merrier at this time of year.
