I hope I’m posting in the right category because this should be a non controversial topic, hope it stays that way.

I’ve been looking at threads that have been posted a decade or more ago and when I see the year I always remember what used to be trendy then, how life used to be with that day’s tech etc. And I miss some or a lot of it, it makes me nostalgic.

So I’m opening a discussion about what you guys miss from the past? I urge you to keep it non political 🙏 Thank you.

I’ll start. I miss the way tumblr was in 2013-2014 - that seems to have been different for everyone but for me it was the aesthetics and fashion. I’m still using that site whenever I have time to just enjoy photography but it just isn’t the same anymore, there isn’t too much color as before. I also miss when I would make my own little blog where I would get creative and add some cute glittery GIFs or generate my own text with cool fonts (sort of like MySpace back in the day).
I probably should mention I was born in the late 90s so that’s why those are some of the fondest memories I have. And as someone who grew up mostly using the internet I miss the old internet lots.

How about you? What’s making you nostalgic and you wish you could still do?

PS
I’m also now having an idea to make a separate thread for a game where you post a year from the past and the next person who posts has to say what they remember from that year and continue the chain. What do you guys think, would it be fun?

Unfortunately I've been missing the past lately, even the recent past; but, we are talking things we are nostalgic for... hmm.

There's just too much! Child of the 80's I am.

I guess, sitting down with grandpa, for the first time at the Commodore 64, and seeing that big blue mysterious screen, that if you typed a magical sequence of words into, you could play a computer game. Or nintendo, sega, n64, etc.. with friends. Or 90's music, and real websites, 90's style.

I miss snowy winters too (even though I'm sure I hated many of them as I became older), as we don't get them where I am now.

I think I really miss the 90's though. I missed out on a lot of it, was too young to really be able to appreciate it, but, when I was old enough, there was so much to ride on the coat tails of. I think there was this general sentiment of cooperation between people, and tearing down of false boundaries and walls, and there was intellectual room to breathe. The world seemed bigger and alive.

Trip-Hop too :) Trip-Hop in it's day, was glorious :) It just doesn't seem to translate, for me, to these times... anymore.

And bike riding in the neighborhood I grew up in... What... a... splenderous joy...

If you've got an idea for a thread in the games thread, or whatever: go for it! Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. No biggy.

I am very reluctant to post in these kind of threads but then i keep telling myself that I am only here two weeks so why should it matter?

I do miss a lot about my past with both of my parents being deceased and because of that the holidays do not have the same meaning for me. It flies by so hold on to what you have.

I struggle with being nostalgic because there's so much pain associated with old memories, but it was great playing games in the street with the neighbourhood kids, going on the very few school camps I attended, competing at the inter-school athletics day.

I miss the few precious years I went to dance school once a week. Dang, that was so much fun!

And I miss my own very early days of being on Facebook (I'm not on any social media anymore) around 2008-ish. They had a ton of cute little fun games on there you could play alone or with your friends. All the games went away and it was nothing but Likes-gathering and people in love with themselves. Boring.
