Christmas Eve


It’s really one of my favorite days. My sister and I would wake up on the 24th with a big smile and run downstairs because there was always something going on. Either we had company or someone was coming over or more cookies were being made “just in case.”

Most of the people I think about during the best Christmas years of my life are gone now and it was not clear to me at that time that those years were the best I’d ever have when I think of this holiday.

So no matter how you spend tonight and tomorrow I want you to enjoy it and during it take a step back and take it all in. Special memories are made of these gatherings.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year’s Eve and it is a safe one for you. I’ll be home tonight because honestly I have no where else to go. It’s not a bad thing and I won’t dwell on it because I didn’t try to do anything about it during this vacation week that lead up to it.

One thing that really saddens me when a year turns into the next is how much further away we are from the ones who have already left us. In February it will be five years since my mother has been gone and one year for my father and that is always something that makes facing a new calendar year hard for me.

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s. I was asleep long before any cheering took place. I don’t make any resolutions because usually it is something that someone sets for themselves on the 1st and breaks on the 3rd. All I want to do is be my best each and every day. That’s hard enough without setting a goal.

Today is my last day so I am going to say goodbye and then finish posting in a few threads.

I want to begin by saying goodbye to the best friend that I have ever had in here TheRealCallie. She is someone who does not have to beg for attention around here and quite honestly she is a wonderful and amazing woman. I respect her very much and if you can tell I am very loyal to her.

Next, Abym...oh forget it. I’ll just go with Amy. When I come back at the end of the year I want to ask you how you survive in Saskatchewan when the temperatures are sixty below. Not just you but how do children and pets do it? Well when I return I will check this thread and it will remind me. Have a wonderful year and I wish you nothing but the best.

I ran into kaetic, ringwood, TheSkaFish and Bee. It was nice to talk to you ringwood. Of all the people in Europe represented in here Bee is the cream of the crop.

Serenia puzzled me. When I came back there was a private message waiting for me that she wrote in October. I wrote back but she did not respond and I hope she is ok. So I am a little worried.

Well, that’s it. My two weeks are up and it is time to drop back in the shadows again. Take care everyone.

We all survive by hiding indoors. My pug is back to mostly using pee pads because she doesn't like snow to touch her belly. Hard to avoid this time of year.

Another fast year and hello everyone

Honestly it was like I had just told all of you goodbye and now I am saying hello again. It’s my sincerest hope that you all have had a good year and most of all a safe and happy one. I can honestly say I did. I did nothing that stood out so I can either consider that a good thing or that I wasted twelve months. I’ll let you decide.

Hello to TheRealCallie. My good friend. I do hope that you have been well and also your family. Keep your frying pan close because after all it is me you are dealing with.

If I happen to run into Bee, Kaetic, Serenia and Dandelion I’d be very happy. If not someone please let them know because I will be leaving again after the first of the year.

I would also like to give a special shout out to Abst, oh you know who I mean, Amy. I hope you and your family are doing very well. I actually thought of you a few months back when I read a joke about Canada and I thought it was pretty funny. Here, I’ll post it for you so you can decide.

On the 6th day God turned to Archangel Gabriel and said: "Today I am going to create a land called Canada, it will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. I'd never make it there. I'm sure it is a beautiful place during the summer but the winter would be a nightmare. I'd never be caught in Saskatchewan from November until May and in Alaska no matter what the calendar said.

Same for me being in a really hot place like Death Valley, California or Arizona. Same for the humidity in Florida. That and along with 1.3 million alligators walking around, Burmese Pythons and cockroaches the size of small dogs.

Yes, I know this is a quote from a movie but to really survive in here you really need to do this.

There is such a good group of people here and over the years I have been fortunate enough to talk with these individuals. Sorry to say a lot of them are gone now and my regret is that I did not get to say goodbye to them and to let them know how they meant to me.

Then there are the others who, to be very honest with you all, I don’t mind if they are not here anymore since there is no love lost or respect either.

Take last year’s user in here who won the coveted Thorn in my Side award that I give out annually on my last day here. I’ve never publicly spoke of this but since I do not plan on going scorched earth on her it should and will be fine. From the first day until my last day in 2023 Cenotaphgirl was the clear cut winner of this award. I have been here nine years although for the past few of them just two weeks a year but I have never seen such a self-absorbed person.

The problem is she was enabled in here by just about everyone. No matter what she said it was met with enthusiasm and complete agreement. There was one other person in here that I saw that was treated with that much reverence and that was Ladyforsaken. But these two people were complete opposites. Cenotaphgirl had to have a lot of attention every day to justify who she was. Ladyforsaken, if you liked her or not, always had a ton of class and that is what Cenotaphgirl never had.

I do know that Cenotaphgirl was going for surgery right around the time I left last year and I don’t know if she has been back or not. I hope her surgery went well and I also hope she comes back here because I know she does have friends here.

I also realize that I could have been the Thorn in my Side winner if other people gave that award out. I focus too much on what has gone on in here in the past even though these events may have taken place six or seven years ago. So this year I will try to utilize my great memory on what is going on in 2024.

I don't think it's ever a good idea to be talking about other members as you just did, especially in that passive/aggressive way. What do you want to achieve from it?

I thought I was pretty gentle and also truthful. What do I want to achieve? Giving my opinion.

I am so sick of this "passive aggressive" crap. I only hear this when I am in here. Never the other fifty weeks of the year.

About other members though. Why do that? All it does is alienate people. We've all got some issues here, but most of posts are made innocently or naively, so unless anyone is being an outright butthole or other nasty trait, then there's really no need to be putting anyone down, is there?

Well she was nasty to me and I don't care for her but I did say i hoped her surgery went well. Or did you miss that? Probably.

You see you were one of them that fawned all over her. And I could care less. You have your own friends in here.

I've heard that phrase from people in here a lot and it means nothing to me. In real life like I said, not one time. It is a phrase people use on the internet to insult others and at the same time deny that they did.
