A thread for the living dead
Vampires, Wraiths, Ghouls; come attend
Let the skeleton bare his bones
Let the zombie search his brains
Where spirits gather round
And ghosts board phantom trains

The pinnacle of loneliness is the living form of death
For the soul that has departed long before it's final breath...
A decision to destroy met with honor yet remains
For the flesh belongs to God until the end of days...

Icy chill of dead desire, barren wilderness of fire
Immerse me in thy deep sea, where flames never breathe...
Pure Akasha of night, Solitude of strange delight
Limitless silence that burns away, in the ever predictable light of day...

Ever humbled, ever exalted, this mystery of grey
Where predators grow stronger, and prey can only pray...
Cast thy anchor to the bottom, beneath the waves of change
Sinking to the deep end, to the place of the strange
For thy shipwreck is but a drop in the ocean,
where Nirvana is obtained...

Loneliness sometimes makes you feel you're dead.

...Or I could have misunderstood your post (which I believe is the case).

well yes thats part of it. Mainly, it was just a random burst of poetic inspiration fat with intrigue and mystery...

Since this is a thread for the dead, whoever comes here assumes an undead archetype: (I prefer the wraith)

Skeleton (someone being honest, who bares their bones, gets something off their chest, etc)
Zombie (anyone who says something brainless, or asks a question (looking for brains) or learns something (eating brains)
Ghost (whoever views and does not post)
Vampire (one who is capable of vampirism, typically a cold persona that absorbs heat and light)
Wraith (A less human sort of vampire who drains "levels" of something, often mental knowledge, perspectives, and odd pockets of consciousness)
Ghoul (One that is simply dead while alive)

Or be creative and use an undead archetype I haven't mentioned...

(Bone dragon)

The place where one creates, where one is a god, is within...

I've learned a few things in my 16+ years of being a dungeon master, and in my programming days. (my first rom runewind saga for rpgm2 took some 3 years and I wound up doing stuff no one else thought of.)

When you create characters, adventures, kingdoms, worlds, etc there begins a clear and direct script of thoughts that become characters (good and bad) and events that must take place, but over the course of time they seem to assume a life of their own. Suddenly they become distinct characters.

When playing a dungeon master you are required to role play an entire tavern of characters at once if need be, in real time, whereas the player only focuses on one or a couple. In these situations the ability to generate quick and basic responses for a big number of characters at once is crucial.

Some of the more memorable characters reach a point where they seem very much alive on their own. At that point there is a shift from creative imagination to receptive impressions of the living personas you create.

Without the context of fantasy this ability would manifest as multiple personalities, and these sort of creative endeavors might be helpful to such a person.

And in programming a fantasy world I've learned even more. Its no different then painting a picture or conducting a symphony in the artistic sense. In each case the artist is constantly unhappy enough with his work to mold it into a masterpiece.

You wind learning to love each and every little part of it you make, all the things you normally take for granted when playing a game. Therefore I am able to appreciate the Love the creator has in building this reality, from the tiniest rock to the meanest baddest villian.

And I wonder, if we too do not exist except as thoughts in the overmind, where we too become distinct characters, but on a far greater scale. There are plenty of limitations in creating worlds. If you give them no light, love, thought, at all they won't grow, but if you try too hard too fast, you won't be allowing them to grow on their own.

Well this could totally be a metal song. Really nice.

It's nice to feel like god for a while, isn't it? :)
