For some reason, I have an interest in "Gore" videos. NOT WITH ANIMALS OR CHILDREN! Crime scene photos and such. Should someone like me be thought less of because of this?

I'm still a nice person, but this is just one more thing about life that I hate. Why in the world do I have an interest in this stuff?! It's so ******* unfair. I didn't choose to have an interest in this.

I hope you all don't think less of me for sharing.

Hmm... well, I suppose we all have our interests. Doesn't make you less of a person. It's not like you're going out and creating violence so you can satisfy your interest.
I actually know a few people that have the same interest, so while I don't share it, I wouldn't judge you for it.

We all have our strange things we're interested in, whether it's in the sexual area, or just anything that sattisfies any need that is considered to be outside of the "normal domain". Also... you may be interested in gorey stuff, but the reason that that terminology even exists is because more people are interested in it. And as was said before, it's not like you're intentionally CREATING violence somewhere - there ARE people out there who, in order to sattisfy their needs, actually have to go out and wreck things, or worse - people.

I'd say it depends on the nature of your interest.

If it's sort of a morbid, detached curiosity it's unusual but not a terrible stain on your character or anything.

I've considered in the past (and am still considering) what it'd be like to work in chemical forensics - I am interested in that sort of work, though at the same time thinking about what I might see puts me off. There's a natural desire to see bad things and make some sense out of them to some degree.

If you're more getting actual enjoyment out of seeing such things or are fantasising about being part of them and so on then obviously it's a much more serious cause for concern because it suggests your empathy is not tuned normally to the state of others.

Everyone has some element of morbidity to them - it's why dark humour can be amusing.

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it, you recently posted that thread on feeling sad for other people - if you truly feel like that, you're most likely not in the more disturbing end of the spectrum when it comes to this.

My mom says she would have loved to study forensics. She's interested in crimes, how the body looks after the crime, investigating how the crime was committed, etc.

But she's a nice and caring person well-round.

We all have our own little strange interests, no problem about that.
