There's this guy called 'Max' in a soap called Eastenders at the moment. He has women all over him. (I really like his wife 'Tanya')This woman posted a photo of him on facebook. I posted a question saying I didn't know how he got all those women. The woman replied that he had 'swagger' and he was 'smart'

So it's a bit of info I suppose. I know it's only a tv show. I find it unrealistic because the guy just grunts and treats people like crap. But what do I know ?

I don't think I have much 'swagger' - I don't walk around thinking I am gods gift to women. In fact I openly make comments saying I have no chance and women don't like me etc.

I am a honest person. The things I am good at - i do tell people !

TV is retarded.

Women like winners. This is the simple truth. The prince charming. I don't see how you're helping your chances when you're branding yourself as a loser.

And furthermore, appearances are very very important in a society in which people don't spend much time understanding each other. Whether or not you're a cool guy or a wimp is irrelevant until AFTER you're in a relationship.

yes it probably is unrealistic but my manager is a bald, overweight married bloke with zero charm and carisma yet he is supposed to shagging every woman who he meets. Not all of it is ********. Is it all about having a bullying personality ?

I'm jealous that you get to watch Eastenders, I used to watch that years ago, they don't have it where I live now, but I do get to watch Coronation Street. Fun stuff! :p

TV is so fake nothing real about it at all, especially shows like those. :D

A few years ago at my work we had this american security guard. I asked him loads of questions and he said 'Eastenders' was popular !

I'm glad you like Coronation street !

I don't really watch either. The thing is they write about the plots in magazines so you can keep track of what's going on. My Mam watches loads of soaps. It's like non stop for 2 or 3 hours a night !

Unfortunately, I know exactly who you're talking about there haha.

But seriously I think I know what you mean, he's not a very particularly good looking guy, has a bad attitude most of the time and still gets the women. yes I know TV is fictional and all that rubbish but this does happen, and it's because most women love the confidence and that bad-boy style of a person, I don't know why cause more times than not it ends up being a disastrous relationship or an unhappy one.

This is where the whole "Nice guys never get a break" argument comes from, since the "bad-boys" mostly get the attention. But I'm not really a participant of that, I'm just saying :)

Similarly to you I always say I don't stand a chance with women and to be honest my appearance would give people this impression anyway. Having a cocky, confident attitude keeps women interested in you long term in my opinion. Looks can only get you so far without confidence.

I know it is only tv but when I see middle aged men with young attractive women - it's just makes me laugh. There is no realism. I can't say I see many older guy / young woman couples anyway.

Back to Eastenders, on a website there that Phil Mitchell guy kissing some hot blonde ! WTF - a drunk, drug user, how old is he ? 50 ? Spends most of his time slagging people off ! - I know they need storylines and either someone is dying or having an affair ! All aload of crap but I'm in the minority.

I'm not sure my boss is a 'bad boy' but Ive not heard anybody say a good word him (that includes women !). He's rude, bland, a bully, only mumbles, no carism at all, very childish, a control freak. Yet according to the gossip he was getting blow jobs from his supervisor (a very nice woman btw) in his office. He's married but he has this reputation. One of the women who he did have an affair with used to come to me and complain about his attitude, said he was miserable and had no personality. Yet a few weeks later he's having sex with her in the canteen !

oh I can be cocky and confident with women. Not that it does me any good. I think these women probably think I'm 'allright' and 'a nice guy' - I can tell I'm not getting on their nerves etc. My looks put me in the bottom 1% of the male population and everything else about me puts me even lower than that. So I don't think I have much hope to be honest. But at my age it's not that important.

Some guys attract women differently, the example I gave above was one of them, dare I say the most popular.

But I think some also have the gift of the gab and can be very persuasive, I used to work with a guy that had an affair with some woman, and he was overweight, much older than her and had poor hygiene, but on the flip side of things, he was very confident, told things how they are, defiantly had the gift of the gab and I suppose he had a good sense of humour.

i saw this bloke in this nightclub once, he must have asked this woman to dance 50 times ! He wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. He was pleading. The woman who I worked with, pointed to me and said she was 'with me' just to get rid of him. Five minutes later he was slow dancing with somebody else.

So I guess some blokes try harder. I would ask a woman to dance once and then walk away. I see alot of men with women and they definately don't have a sense of humour or a good personality or the gift of the gab. But what they do have is a nasty streak or a bullying personality and the women looked almost scared of them.

I thought women hated desperation, maybe she danced with him to shut him up.

no idea what happened. I think the woman he ended up with was a bit gormless.
