Can "Shock Sites" Be Shut Down?

I was wondering something. Are "Shock Sites" illegal? The reason I ask is because I used to view them for some stupid reason. Morbid curiosity blended with stupidity I guess. I still can't get half of the **** out of my brain, and I quit viewing them a while back.

I'm not certain most people realize just how disturbing and unhealthy they are. I'm just trying to think of some ways to shut them down. I'm 36yo, a grown ass man, and still I'm bothered by the Eugene Armstrong beheading video.

My main concern is young children. Their psyche is much more fragile than an adult's. They don't need to look at that crap. My actions and ideas might just very well prove futile, which is why I'm interested in knowing what you all think about my idea.

I'm more concerned with these XXX superhero movies and cartoon porn that depicts children targeted audiences. What's funny is that there are tons of actual illegal sites out there that corporations/government are trying to shut down that people get all upset about. Yet we have sites like these out there no one is doing anything about.

I thought you were talking about meatspin and two girls one cup "shock videos". I guess the reason behind them is like putting juvenile delinquents in jail or boot camp, but really "shock" does more harm than good. That beheading video, or the one where the guy sets himself aflame, are more likely to cause desensitizing. Better for a soldier mentality?

Or this one where a woman...no wait...never mind it's just too disgusting. Oh I'm so glad I stop going to the site that people used to link those kind of videos on.

What's a shock site?

They are websites that show images and videos depicting extremely disturbing material such as beheading, animal cruelty, snuff films, etc. The worst and bloodiest things you have ever seen. I can't post links, but there is one were a woman steps on a kitten's head and squashes it's skull into pieces.

I think I've watched every single killing, execution, morbid video..etc (except the things involving people sticking stuff up their butts) and yes, it has ****** me up in some ways. There are worse videos than the Eugene Armstrong one (although that one was pretty awful as well, I won't post any references to the others cuase IMO they are really horrible). But at least it gives people an idea of what goes on around the world. The only way to shut them down that I know of is if they show videos with sexual violence towards children (never seen that on shock sites) or more commonly videos of animal cruelty (which surprisingly seems to piss people off more than watching a woman get her head cut off).

However I do agree that children should not have access to this, but that is kind of difficult to enforce and IMO comes down to parenting. But then again I started watching this stuff when I was 17-18 year old

PS. There is always a video or a few that really seem to stick with you. I watched most of them and really wasn't affected, but everyone has a few videos that they can't forget.

Hopefully those sites carry a warning, 18+ like the adult sites have to do. If they don't carry a warning that they contain graphic material, there might be something that can be done.

They do. Just to cover their *****. Sites like "Bestgore" and "The YNC" have a little banner that pops up asking you to click enter if you are 18, otherwise leave this site type thing. Truth is, anyone of any age can enter, just by clicking "Enter".

My curiosity led me to look at "2 Girls 1 Cup". Pretty gross, but I'd bet on the video "Chomp" or "Cow In A Shredder" being much worse. I'll never look at those videos ever again. Ever.

Idk... but I think there are filters for sites like that like a personal setting you can mess with. I remember as a teen looking at weird pics and seeing like really bloody ones or accident pics or people with many piercings. I forget the website but in my mind...it didn't bother me because I thought all that was fake. Like, there's no way they would put real gore pics up here. Little did I know.

Yeah, you can set "parental controls" on you browsers. Unfortunately they can also block you from harmless sites. I tried that at work once after an employee infected the computers with porn. It wouldn't allow me to access the Wacker site, which makes construction equipment. I don't know if it was because of the name, or that they also sell vibrators (FOR CONCRETE).

It's important to keep our freedoms, ilegality is not the solution. The goverments could use it to censor what they don't like.

I believe the parents need to take care of their kids. Unfortunatly since they don't know well the internet, they are incapable to do this in some cases.
