Hi. I'm a student who's been having a lot of difficulty making friends in University. I have a small number of friends, but I have limited opportunities to communicate with them nowadays. I have a very poor relationship with my family so I never talk to them about things at the moment. The result is that much of the time I have no one to talk to. I thought I'd turn to the internet to find people to talk to in the meantime. This community seems friendly and welcoming so I thought I'd try setting up an account here.

I'm in the second year and I'm studying History, mainly of the developing world. I'm hoping to get involved in an NGO or something along those lines in the future, though it's too early for me to have given it much thought.

I'd be interested to hear how you're 'in the same boat' with regard to your family, if it's something you're willing to talk about.

Hope you find some friends here, but I hope even more that you don't give up on making friends at university, I never went to university, hell I dropped out of school just before age 15! Because off that and the 10 years off depression afterwards I made no friends during my teens and tweens, and as I found out later in life... I gets really hard to make them after this period, especially if your social skillset is underdeveloped as it was in my case... So welcome to ALL, and don't forget to go out into the real world every now and then
