OK, here's the deal. I have a brand new garden hose that has been cut, leaving a 'V' shaped gash in the middle that sprayed water all over me this afternoon as I tried to water the garden. Apparently, the gardener dude felt it would be more fun to surprise me with this discovery than to leave a note with an apology.

Do any of you manly man fixer types or tool savvy women folk have a DIY fix suggestion, or am I stuck buying another new hose?

Thanks, people!

Duct tape will work for a while (as long as you make sure the area is DRY when you apply it), but I'd get a new hose. :p Also, it won't hold long being exposed to the heat.
Why risk it? :p You KNOW it will get you when you least expect it. :D

Surprisingly, Eve is right. Both on the duct tape hand being better off getting a new hose.

Thank you both - guess I'll stop at the HD on the way home tomorrow.

Eve, need me to pick anything up for you? :p

I'd kill for a lovely new home tool set. :D

:club: Surprisingly?
I know a thing or two about home improvement, etc. I even know a little about cars! I once changed an alternator belt. :)

There actually is a way to fix this without duct tape or buying a new hose.

You can use brass fittings and two clamps.

The brass will prevent rusting. Cheaper option than getting a brand new hose.

Hey, she wanted a way to fix her old one! :p

I've actually done this before, but I did already have the stuff.

Deleted some words to make it sound crude and hilarious.

Last sentence doesn't make much sense but I find this only adds to the hilarity.

You can do what Shipster posted but you are better off with a new hose. Gear clamps are a pain in the ass, they get caught on everything and will just end up pissing you off every time you have unsnag them. I hate using those things. Hoses are pretty inexpensive anymore.

Another thing about those clamps...
It's been my experience that they tend to get loose fairly often and frequent tightening can cause them to become stripped so eventually you'll get a..... hosing. :p

Yep they do that too, and they cut into the hose. Banding clamps are much better but are more permanent cause you have to cut them to remove them. The only hoses I join and clamp are discharge hoses, those suckers are expensive.

Bazinga :p

Ship, we actually have those fittings and those clamps here. I really want to get rid of the hoses we have though, and try those expandable/shrinky hoses. They seem to be legit, and only a few bucks. I may try one out.

I've never tried one of those hoses either. We have the regular ones that always seemed to get left lying all over the yard. If you get one, share with us if they work well Nilla.
