I agree with lonely2beeme on this one. You don't seem to give a valid reason for wanting to ditch him if he gets good jail time. Why wouldn't you be able to see him? You do get visits, you know. And if you love him this shouldn't even be an issue. Just because you can't "see" each other doesn't mean the love goes away. You can still use the phone and write letters. It's not like he's going away for life b/c of a DUI. And when "is it best" in your opinion to let someone go?

And I think you are getting frustrated b/c you are hearing things you don't want to hear. It sounds like you just came here for validation of your feelings and not b/c you wanted to hear some advice, more like "someone tell me I'm right", and this sounds like a security blanket issue.

I also don't understand why you're not disclosing "personal" things. We have no idea who you are and have no way of finding out. You have nothing to lose. It sounds like you just don't want to get told those cold facts.

Vicki, I don't really know the laws in the states, but i can pretty much tell you that your bf is screwed. But, I belief, or maybe you can discuss with his lawyer, that he can maybe plead leniency on the grounds that he still as a mother to support. I have known from past facts ( at least in my country), that people can reduce their sentence by up to half on such grounds.....(well thats if you are not commiting something very serious.... yeah i know DUI is pretty much serious but not that serious that it warrants them to lock him up for some long time).
