"Internet Tough Guys"?

Have you ever encountered "Online Tough Guys" in your computer world?
I've been a member of some forums where there are those that talk trash and disrupt the balance of any given forum or online gaming world for their personal satisfaction. Ones that you would like to choke the life out of?

I come across tons of jerks who threaten other members and talk tough because they feel that just because it's the internet that there are no repercussions possible. I'm here to tell them that are sorely mistaken.

Ultimately, you don't really know who you are dealing with. Some people are so good at computers, that they can turn your online life into a nightmare. I've come to learn just how truthful that is.

Have any of you encountered "Internet Tough Guys"?

Yep, I have.
Also been accused of being one myself. It's sad that because people THINK they know me, they seem to think they also know what I'm thinking and how I view them and feel about them. They also seem to think they can put ideas into other people's minds about my motives and why I do what I do. Basically, they are wrong about me, they just don't choose to see it.

Oh yeah, frequented a few forums, and was a long-time denizen of a video game forum, which, of course, is an ideal habitat for your general, everyday trolls, internet tough guys and other colourful characters straight out of 'Flame Warriors'.

Generally pay little heed to folks like that, and due to my non-confrontational nature, rarely if ever got into direct discussion (if you can call it that) with these gits. They are, after all, all talk.

..Even if it's all in bold caps, written in pidgin english, and with flagrant disregard to punctuation and the like.

It shows I've impacted your life enough that you won't soon forget me.

Take into consideration that I could care less about it and I'm content.

Whenever someone threaten's me with some sort of cyber intrusion (worse things in real life) I usually tell them to have at it.

The chances of me pissing of some random hacker who's going to care are probably about the same as me running into a professional boxer on the street.

I also try not to start ****.



I just can't be bothered.

Well i tend to take any threats i get online seriously. You never know who is behind the keyboard. You never know what sorts of information you could've given them that might lead them to harm you in real life. You never know what their skill level is with a computer.

That's why I just dissapear if someone frightens me, threatens me etc.

I don't want to hang around to see the consequences.

i've played that card, but only when someone else was being a jerk to someone previously.

Oh yeah, and on certain forums it can be really bad. There's been a few where I don't even want to read a thread they've started or posted last in. You just know what it's going to consist of the typical "tough guy" crap and usually does.

The only other forum I was on was mostly populated my middle aged ladies so no its not really something I've experienced...

I've come across a lot of cowards though.

once I was doing a prank on a forum, I draged a lot of attention... and a guy figured out my IP. It surprised me so I ended my act, fearing he could send me a virus or something. Nothing happened, I think he believed my IP was wrong becose of my country.

but know they were all jerks in that forum, they deserved to be pranked!! it was great even the moderator felt in my joke, he was the dumbest

ha ha yes but a bit more than I will punch you in the mouth, but am still here its good thing to go through coz it means when some one says they are going to punch me in the mouth I just laugh and give them my address.

if you go on forums where your machine starts running slow pages freezing up they are hacking your machine or if you machine crashes, just insure your machine with the retailer its well worth it
