Loneliness Kills, Study Shows

I'm still alive! bah I somehow have the confident that I'll be alive for all eternity being lonely, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

In a new University of Chicago study of men and women 50 to 68 years old, those who scored highest on measures of loneliness also had higher blood pressure. And high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease, the number one killer in many industrialized nations and number two the United States.

Seems plausible to me. A lot of people forget that it isn't suicide that kills a lot of lonely and depressed people. It's the little things that eat away at us through the years from inside.

It's no secret that our emotions can have serious effects on our physical health. I know mine do.

Are we talking about living alone or being lonely? They are definitely not the same thing.

They are definitely not the same thing. We have ppl on this forum that live with there wife and kids and still feel lonely. I am sure you have head of the expression to be lonely in a place full of ppl. Or something like that :p

You know it. Just look under my ID. I still live with "her" and two of her kids, but look at me. :(

I think that can be worse when your lonely like that. Its not obvious to other ppl. where as a friend might ask you to go out with them for a drink cos they know your stuck in alone you would probably not have that cos the ppl around you like your family and friends would think your not alone. Even though you are feeling very alone other wise you would not had got here.

Well-at least this place proves your not alone in feeling alone. That helps me a bit anyway.
