Opinions please.

I'm from England but I'm fascinated by America.

That is a hard one. I would like to see Oregon before i answer.

Having been to all the states except Hawaii, I don't think you can say one is more beautiful than another. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Some of my favorite places as far as natural beauty and parks - Washington State's Olympic Peninsula, California has Yosemite, Joshua Tree, the Sierras, etc... Oregon has the Mt Hood area. Utah has Arches national park, there are lots of cool caves in Kentucky, Wyoming has Yellowstone, and Denali in Alaska. Oh, the Appalachian trail is pretty awesome too.

Worst experience was Montana - Glacier is wonderful, but I have bad memories from being out in the boonies when a blizzard hit. Spent 6 hrs on foot to get to a road with some traffic as wind chills hit the -60 range.

Save your money, come stateside and spend 3-6 months seeing all the sites. Despite what you see on TV, we all are not loud jerks stuffing our faces with big macs and whitening our teeth afterwards...

I know you're not. I generally prefer American people to Brits. You still have a culture of respect and politeness. That's all gone down the pan in England.

I live in Montana, Orthochromatic. Yeah, you have to watch out for those blizzards. Let me guess. You were east of the Continental Divide, right? That's where the really bad blizzards are. No mountains to slow the wind.

Good times, eh? :p

I've only been to New York and Texas...Austin is a happening place....but boy did they grill me going through customs..both times...It's not much different to the UK just different accents..real friendy folks in Austin!

Huh - I always thought the opposite.

Yeah great times, really... I had meandered through the mountains and was working my way east. I had a few extra days, winter camping gear, climbing boots, etc... figured "This will be nice, it's not that cold". Parked the car and headed out on foot. Fortunately I was prepared enough that I did not lose any finger or toes. A huge family in a giant 4x4 van stopped and picked me up when I found the road - surprised I was alive. Took me to their place fed me, put me up for the night, and then took me to my car the next day after the plows had started clearing the highways a bit.

I still like going out and roughing it a bit though. Spent the last week of January and first couple days of February this year in Yosemite. First couple days were bad, even the cameras were seizing up from the cold, but it warmed up a little the rest of the time I was there. :)

I don't know anything about the other states but I've lived in California and Oregon. I absolutely love Oregon, it is so gorgeous. I go hiking all the time with my friends and there are plenty of great sights to see :).

Here is just an example of what there is to see from southern Oregon. It's pretty close to where I live. There are so many beautiful places to go. I don't know the most beautiful state but I just felt like I should represent my state :D.

i havent been to any rural areas or anything. most likely it would be a state in the mid US. the coasts are mostly so populated that its nothing but cities. i bet parts of alaska look amazing.

I'm gonna go ahead and say Idaho.

But I'm kinda biased.

In my opinion there's beautiful parts of every state, but you have to get out of population to see them. California still has some gorgeous untouched high desert. Out of Idaho, the panhandle is probably the nicest, north of Lewiston all the way to the border. Priest Lake is an excellent area to visit and has just the right amount of trails for hiking.

There has been something truly beautiful in every state I have ever visited or lived in. Yes, even New Jersey, just not along the NJ Turnpike.

I am partial to the rural area of Connecticut where I grew up, with its dense forests, green pastures lined by old stone walls and rolling hills dotted with dairy farms.

The coast of Maine has some spectacularly beautiful sights, especially in the middle of a heavens-shaking thunderstorm.

The Colorado Rockies are insanely gorgeous even despite the threat of cougar attacks. :p

Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay is calm, lovely and peaceful. Lots of waterfowl and yummy crab and rockfish (striped bass).

And my area of New York state has its snowy charms. :D

All States have some very nice settings. Most of the best ones are probably only known by local populations.

I don't live in Hawaii, but I thought it was beautiful when i visited.... heres a pic of a popular snorkeling spot... it was paradise to spend the day there!

I don't live in Maine either... but I thought this was a very pretty and peaceful lake to relax by....

I think every state has beautiful places... I'm not sure you can just pick one that is the most beautiful...

You know "Craters of the moon" is indeed pretty freaking cool and northern Idaho is nice. One of my old professors from years ago moved up there. I would be talking to him on the phone, when he would tell me to hold on so he could fire his shotgun in the air to scare off the bear "scratchin' up his favorite tree"

I've never been there, but I'd love to go to Central Texas, where the woodlands of the Southeast start to morph into the desert of the Southwest. I heard there are rolling hills and you can see for miles and there's blue bonnet flowers and balmy breezes.

Why such a downer on the place where you live?
Not all ppl are arrogant pigs. You should learn to be moor positive man :)
Plus I love Nottingham. It has such a vast countryside and loads of placers to go biking :D Don't be dissing Robin hod country now :p

Oh I'm not really dissing anywhere. Least of all Nottinghamshire, but you've got to admit that our 'yob culture' is out of control.
