Good day to you, i've decided to write down something i've been thinking about for many a year. Just for the heck of it.

Basicly the concept is this, names and personalities are linked. That is to say, people that have the same first name share some personality or physical traits.

I don't quite remember how i ever got to this, it just stuck with me for some reason. I don't have anything solid in terms of evidence for it either.

Being here i read that some people agree that looks are similar to a personality, something i haven't thought about but seems like an interesting idea.

Anyway, anyone any thoughts on this silly idea of mine? xD

haha only messing, just something I seen in another thread..

Anyway I know what you mean, I once were talking about someone and they asked me there name and I said 'Liam' and the responded with 'yeah... looks like a Liam too!'.

I think some people do connect names with personality's and looks. From a personal point of view I think names are just random, but hey.. people believe in whatever they want.

Names for the most part have to do with personality, and here is why.

one of the reason is who else has the same name. If there are popular or well known figures with that name, it will spark a mental response to that name, and the person will grow up with those thoughts in mind.

another reason is the actual meaning of the name itself. English names are actually not words, therefore no actual meaning. Any meaning you hear for those names are usually made up to compensate for the fact that it is not a word.

In many languages, word or combination of words are used for names.

Regardless if the name are actual words or not, the meaning (real or made up) behind the name is what guides the person as they grow up.

What if you grow up never knowing this person in mind and your just... you? Plus there's so many people with the same names it's impossible to attach one to someone.

Names are just names to me, I don't really associate anything with them - other than male or female!

I don't believe people grow up to what there name is, they grow up the way they want to, if you end up being like some famous guy with the same name then that's a coincidence; it's bound to happen sometime considering the value of the population.

Rofl.. dude. That made me literally laugh. I know which one you're talking about.
Needed that, thanks lol.

As for on topic, I don't know, there are instances where I've come across thinking "oh boy, another so-and-so, that must mean trouble" cos I've come across people of the same name with such similar personalities. Then again there were some with that same name but nothing like them. Especially in my job where I meet so many youngsters lol with similar names.

So I've always thought, it could just be coincidence. Or something. Meh.

Once, my classmates and I were sitting around, talking about this very thing. My teacher asked us to guess his name, based on his looks and what we knew about him. There were quite a few guesses, but most of them were wrong. I told him that I thought he would be either a Jeff or a Keith. It turned out that one was his first name and the other was his middle name. As I was the only person to get it right, I'm not really sure what that means!

I'm not really sure what that means

That your good a guessing :)

Either that or you heard the other teachers talking about him, telling them how much of a crap teacher he is asking his students stupid questions haha

I always pick my aliases and names on games for there meaning, and personality they portray.

I picked my alias here because Pollyanna was taken, and it rhymes with Pollyanna and based it on Pollyanna principle. The concept as described by Matlin and Stang in 1978 used the archetype of Pollyanna, a young girl with infectious optimism. ;)

If I was Italian, my name would be Scorpio Fantano.

I would either be an assassin, or a gambler known for his outlandish, yet stylish attire.

Or both!
I picture you more like this though:
