How many people here go for days with no human contact?

If I do not go out to buy something I will spend two or three days without any seeing another person.

I think of people in solitary confinement who go for months without any contact. How do they survive?

I went 38 days without human contact several years ago. When I returned to the world it was hard to adapt. If I was to do it again I suspect I would likely go feral (lol).

survival is ez as long as 1 has food n @ least a moderate amount of physical safety
its the keepng sane part thats more intric8
it can b dun tho
especially if ur lucky enuf 2 have sum forms of distraction
(books,mags,maybe evn TV)
it can still b dun evn w/o those thngs

If I take a week off work then I can go for a week without talking to another person. I have however, in the past, spent weeks camping alone in the big forests around my home (going all wild man) and I think the longest I lasted was just under a month without seeing another human being.

The scary thing is that part of me loved it.

Wow, how long did it take you to re-adapt, and do you feel like there are small parts of you after that experience, that will never fully re-adapt?

Before becoming a mother, I used to go for months at a time without talking to anybody, excluding a "Thank you" to the cashier at the grocery store. It was kind of nice, really.

I've gone months. I've gone months without even going outside except for at night every once in a while to get groceries. Then use self checkout and go back homes.

It's been about 14 years since I was isolated like that. I'm not 100% sure that I've re-adapted- I have often missed being cut off like that. In the movie "Castaway" Tom Hanks portrayed being alone for an extremely lengthy period of time. I've often thought I could do that. In all honesty my dream partner would be a lady that could disappear into the wilds ( or a remote island like Toms) and be comfortable without the trappings of civilization.

I'm one of those types who is comfortable with silence- it amazes me how many are not.

Your response has me deep in thought- thank you.

Between school, college, work, being a parent, and going to the store, I have not had very many times of no human contact within several days; but when I did, I enjoyed it.
