The civilization was actually much more advanced than people usually realize.
They had a trade system already, knowledge of the Sun and the Moon for purposes of farming and irrigation.
Social hierarchy was established as well as governance along with it, and the Code of Ur-Nammu predated the Code of Hammurabi.
Along with the development of writing also came some of the first archeological recordings of the chattering of human conspiracy.
The whole shebang is just really interesting to me in the amount of detail that's there.

I think generally speaking I can try to finish lists.
For example, buy a cook book, then want to try all recipes in the book (but eventually I never get that far).
