Talked on the phone not once, but twice... to two different people. For someone with severe phone phobia: huge!
Great job. I thought I was the only one who felt that way about phones.
Can I ask what it is that you don’t like? It it the device itself, or the interaction with the people on the other end?

Of course I can't say for 147, but for me it has to do the phone usually being usually used in an attempt to try to get
something done in what feels like some kind of blind bumbling interaction with strangers. But it must be more than
that because I used to consistently walk up four flights of stairs to accomplish what could have been done with a
simple phone call to a friend.

Like you’re avoiding some uncomfortable confrontation?

I can honestly say that I have no clear idea. I haven't always been this way. I used to have a best friend decades ago and would easily talk to her on the phone for 4+ hours, lol.

I think for incoming calls, it's always an expectancy of it being something unpleasant or downright bad...? (Again, only guessing)

As for making calls, it's probably just an extension on my general social anxiety. I'm not a whole lot keener of just walking into places and talking to people.

I feel the biggest part is the uncontrollable-ness of what may happen during the interaction, of it going somewhere that might make me feel uncomfortable in some form. I feel better if I'm in control and know exactly what is going to happen.

For me, no not a confrontation, more like unconformable confused bumbling through an alien landscape.
just takes more practice. i made sure i got my kids to go into shops and such to get the talking to people in person and also got them to call up people they needed to respond to instead of me or their mum doing it for them. it worked.
