Once upon a time (last year), our water treatment plant sprung a small chlorine leak in one of it's cylinders; a possible incident we often joke about here at the fire station saying we'd all run and hide at Priest Lake. Well wouldn't you know it'd happen one day.
Luckily it was a pretty small leak, but we still took precautions and evacuated downtown. You can see me in this video from a local news channel:
I'm at 00:50 in the blue plastic suit; my captain is in the grey one. Those are Class 'B' suits used for decontamination crews; the yellow suits are Class 'A' suits, totally sealed off from the outside atmosphere; that's the Technician team that went in and took care of the cylinder once they got there. Both are pretty sweaty...we were in ours for about two hours. When I took mine off I literally poured sweat out of the gloves!
More fun facts:
-The Cogswell Family interviewed at the beginning lives down the street from my old apartment and was one of the families I notified. They really do have a lot of pets.
-I'm a part-time janitor at the school in the beginning of the clip.

-It took two attempts to cap the leaking cylinder, because the edge of the cap seal was sitting right over a stamped label on the bottle which was allowing gas to continue leaking.
