Silly homophobic people. Wanna protect the dignity and sanctity of marriage? Stop validating and recognizing divorces.

yea i never got that either. you have all these people that have been married many times, and divorced many times... especially celebrities. yet they are worried about gay marriage "ruining the sanctity of marriage." that makes literally NO sense.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Means nothing to me. :p

It makes me laugh to think that Commiefornia had this law and "hickville, backwards" Kansas (where I live) didn't. lol score one for the heartland!! :D

I think everyone should have the right to marry or simply be with the one they love, without judgement or fear....

We should all celebrate that homosexuals can now also make a terrible mistake which they'll regret for several years of never ending boredom and misery!

LOL.

:p nice.

I'm glad it was overturned but we haven't heard the end of it, it will wind up at the Supreme Court eventually. I'd like to see Bristol Palin make a public service announcement about the sanctity of marriage (not really!). I think gub'mint should stay out of marriage entirely. Registering one's union with the government is archaic and should end.

I disagree. We need some sort of written contract signifying attachment between two persons for "last will & testament" purposes. If it weren't called marriage, it would be called "partnership" or something else, but it would basically be the same thing. It's just a recognition from the state that two people are attached to each other.

And IMHO, that is necessary and needed if two people are going to be joining/sharing their assets with one another.

the gays didn't ruin marriage,

jerry springer and reverend schmooley did! long ago

yea i get what your saying BJD. i just dont think the government should be involved in the decision making process as far as who can and cant get married. but having some sort of written contract does make things easier for the reasons you mentioned.

I am okay with the government being somewhat involved. I don't like the idea of it being legal to marry dolphins or pillows. I don't want it to be legal to marry a five year old. I think it's important to have a legal record of marriage. There are people out there who have secretly married several people at once and totally screwed their unknowing spouses over.

I'm just really disgusted at stories like the one about the couple who had been together twenty years. They had wills, powers of attorney, and medical directives, all naming each other... and people STILL violated their rights. One of them was hospitalized and the other wasn't allowed to see him. The county put the other one into a nursing home against his will, terminated their lease, auctioned off their belongings. The one in the hospital died alone because they wouldn't let his partner in to see him. Somehow THAT was okay, but recognizing them as a married couple isn't. People are sick.

if the government legislates that now all 'corn' will be referred to as 'grass',

does that really make corn turn into grass?
