Should I be upset?

About 6 months ago my brother had the idea of opening a small business in the local area. I thought this idea had lots of potential, as long as it is now right. I called him and said would he be interested in a partnership as I had the capital and various experiences which complimented his.

We talked for a while and agreed to meet up the following week to discuss. I called him a couple if times, but he never got back to me.

I now find that he has started the business.

Im not so much annoyed that he didn't want me involved but rather the way it has been done.

I feel really upset and that my brother is entirely selfish, wanting to keep everything for himself, for getting that two head are better than one.

Should I be up or am I just throwing my toys out of my pram?

Well, while I understand you would be upset for him doing it without your knowledge, he didn't have to involve you or tell you. He can be selfish if he wants to be. That's his choice. You can just as easily do the same, and what could he do? Nothing. As long as he didn't use your name or image in creating this business, he's perfectly within his rights to do anything he wishes.

So you can be upset, but what would that accomplish? It's not going to make him change his mind and involve you. He can do what he wants in life, just as you can.

Maybe he wanted to have his own thing. You said you have capital... maybe he wants to have capital. I come from a big family and although my family would share anything with me.. pride steps in more often than not.. and I'm a girl.. I'm sure when it's two brothers being proud is not new..

I'm not so bothered about him wanting to have his own thing. That's fine I was the one trying to muscle in. However I'm more upset about the whole thing has happened.
