Um, hello? I have social anxiety. I don't want to talk to anybody on the phone. ESPECIALLY NOT STRANGERS.

Gawd.

I have Social Anxiety too!

In those phone groups they let you just listen-- (you never have to talk).

And the groups are loaded with great tips on overcoming social anxiety.

I don't what else to say-- I got rid of (not all but a lot of) my (longstanding and quite crippling) social anxiety problem in those phone groups.

But I had to stop defending my problem first (I am just talking about myself).

I had to be open-minded, and be willing to seek help and try new things, in order to finally get better.

That's all I can say. I wish you and everyone the very best.

And you're trying to sell me something. I'm not that dense.

.
Nope, nothing for sale-- their support groups are free-- and their ebook is free.

They are a Nonprofit Organization.

They are not a business... It's volunteer-run.

SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM. Go away, SPAAAAAAAAAAM.

Thanks for the resource.

But GO AWAY SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM.

.
If it was Spam, why would I still be here posting?

They are a Non-profit.

Spam is commercial.

They are non-commercial-- they sell NOTHING.

P.S. I realize that not everyone here has social anxiety issues. There are many different reasons to be lonely and social anxiety is only one.

Plus not everyone who has social anxiety will want a phone group. But for those who do, this can be helpful.

OK I'll leave it at that.

I've said everything I can say about it.

Best, Sandra

OK, here's my question: Why would you plug a TELEPHONE online support group when we're already ON an ONLINE support group of sorts? Doesn't make much pennies to me.

.

Because with Social Anxiety Disorder, the way to get over it is face your fears--

(By having direct contact with people by talking to them).

**Social Anxiety Disorder is a phobia (a fear) of talking to other people.

So a (live) group where you actually talk to each other is a way to face those fears-- and get over them.

**Plus they use a 12 Step approach (which is completely free) that helps to heal / get rid of Social Anxiety Disorder.

(They teach that in the groups).

So even you if you can't talk you can listen and still learn a lot about how to overcome those fears (plus hearing others face their fears may help you to face your fears too).

**But it's only for Social Anxiety Disorder-- if you don't have that problem then you would not need a telephone group.

If someone is just lonely (with no social anxiety problem) and just wants to socialize, then an online forum like this one is just fine.

These forums can also be good if you DO have social anxiety (because socializing online is a step). But then after a while a person might want to take another step and face their social fears live / plus learn new tools and tips for getting better.
