Knife-wielding roosters kill 2 men in cockfighting events in India.

Two men have reportedly been killed by knife-wielding roosters in separate cockfights in India.

To mark the three-day celebration of the Hindu Makar Sankrati festival, people gathered to hold cockfights in the Kakinada and East Godavari districts on Sunday, according to reports. During the incident in Kakinada, Gande Suryapraksha Rao, the 43-year-old owner of one of the fighting roosters, bled to death after being slashed by his prized ****..Rao reportedly tied blades to his rooster before it became intimidated by the crowd. The bird then flew up and landed on Rao, causing the blades to severely slash his leg. Although the man was rushed to a local hospital, he was later pronounced dead.

In a separate incident in the East Godavari district, a spectator identified as K. Padmaraju also bled to death after he was slashed in the hand. Padmaraju, who was a resident of Ananthapalli, was reportedly standing too close to a cockfight when one of the bladed roosters sliced a key nerve in his hand. The man bled out on the way to the hospital, where he was later declared dead.

A lot of really messed up stuff happens in India, and through Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It's just, you have to know where to look, and what to look for. Which isn't easy to do without bringing up the linguistic and dialectics factor. That's part of why it doesn't become known much about in Western cultures. The other part of the reason is that quite frankly, no place wants the worst of its criminal happenings to be at the forefront of public representation.

Puking cat gravy boat

Oh, and apparently, nose hair extensions is a new beauty trend, according to a facebook group I'm on.

And here I am tweezing mine out. 🤔
I can never be cool. 😥

Puking cat gravy boat

I'm less concerned about the style of the gravy boat and more concerned why someone would put gravy over cilantro. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of cilantro? 🤔

Don’t drink and fly: Georgia wildlife officials warn about drunk birds

Apr. 14, 2023 at 9:01 AM MDT

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Don’t drink and fly; Georgia wildlife officials are warning residents to be on the lookout for drunk birds.

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources around this time of year is when fruit-eating birds such as cedar waxwings and American robins may overindulge in fruit that has started to rot and ferment. A byproduct of fermentation is the production of alcohol, officials said.

“The consumption of these fermented fruits can cause the birds to lose much of their coordination and capacity to fly,” DNR officials explained in a Facebook post. “This can cause them to crash into windows and other obstacles. Sadly, they can also die directly from alcohol poisoning if they ingest enough of the fermented fruit.”

“Another possible cause for drunken flying is that the birds have eaten Nandina (sacred bamboo) berries,” the post says. “This exotic invasive plant is used in landscaping and draws cyanide from the soil, depositing often lethal doses in its bright red fruit.”

DNR officials are encouraging people to “learn from our feathered friends and consume fruits responsibly.”

Freeze-dried feces pills called 'crapsules' to be taken by patients in clinical trial

"A clinical trial funded by the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Care Research is testing whether pills made from the freeze-dried poop of healthy people could help those with advanced liver disease.

Individuals with cirrhosis — a condition involving severe scarring and damage of the liver — have higher levels of “bad” gut bacteria that make them more susceptible to infections. Researchers are hoping that pills containing feces with “good” bacteria of healthy individuals will improve the gut health of patients with cirrhosis and reduce the need for antibiotics."

Harvard University said it has removed human skin from the binding of a 19th century book about the afterlife that has been in its collections since the 1930s. The decision came after a review found ethical concerns with the book’s origin and history.

The book, “Des Destinées de L’âme,” meaning “Destinies of the Soul,” was written by Arsène Houssaye, a French novelist and poet, in the early 1880s. The printed text was given to a physician, Ludovic Bouland, who ”bound the book with skin he took without consent from the body of a deceased female patient in a hospital where he worked...”

Scientific analysis done in 2014 confirmed the binding was made of human skin, the university said.

The removed skin is now in “secure storage at Harvard Library,” Anne-Marie Eze, Houghton Library associate librarian, said in the question-and-answer session.

The library said it will be conducting additional research into the book, Bouland and the anonymous female patient. It is also working with French authorities to determine a “final respectful disposition.”

“Harvard Library and the Harvard Museum Collections Returns Committee concluded that the human remains used in the book’s binding no longer belong in the Harvard Library collections, due to the ethically fraught nature of the book’s origins and subsequent history” ...

Note - "Anthropodermic Book Project had confirmed the existence of 18 books bound in human skin, out of 31 tested cases".

I was once on a fishing trip with two other guys. We were heading up the west coast and driving inland among the dunes. The guy driving was pissing about, trying to rally drive his way through the tracks when we suddenly got bogged in the sand. We were stuck. He knew it and boldly left us to head out and find help. 2 hours later he returned with a guy, who was with a young child about 7 yrs and a giant Nissan patrol. He unrolled this large amount of rope that was actually ship line from his bullbar, we were like 12 metres into sand from hard dirt track, he didn't need to, but let down the tyres of his vehicle, but it was the kid that did this, and he said to the kid, now you count to 20, and hold your finger on the valve to let out the air, the kid did, counted to 20, every tyre. I thought this is really ********. But then when he hitched the car up with the rope and reversed, his vehicle pulled us out like it was a paper plane. No problem, letting the tyres down wasn't needed, but this whole thing looked a bit dopey. They were very helpful. Then when we were out, he was very inquisitive and asked about our travel intentions. They said we were going fishing up the coast. Well, he said I've got a back water retreat, a cabin and a boat if you're interested in that? The F$#cking hair stood up on the back of my neck, this guy was so sickly friendly that there was something wrong with it and my intuition said No way. The other two were hooked, I said no, that guy made me freak, espescially the ******** thing with the tyres. I said no, theres something that makes me say no, and if you guys want to then drop me off on the high way and I'll make my own way home. They were pissed at me, told the guy no and we went on our way.
Six months later after that trip, one of them shows me a story in the news paper and this guy was in there for abducting tourists. He said wow, you might have saved our lives! I said mate that guy scared the crap out of me, I wasn't going anywhere with him.
