I must admit to my sin. I need to come out. Forver must I be shamed.

I can't spell. And I have no clue about grammar.

So I need to rely on spellchecker whcih is not working on my pc at the moment.

But hang on

I can do maths.

I never need a caulcuator. Never use one.

Do the spelling police use calculators? Bet they do.

I can't spell so I use a spellchecker. They can't do maths so the use a calulator. I am to be ridiculled by they are not.

To this end I pose a problem:

Represent the following complex number by lines on an Argand Diagram

3-2i

No?

SHUT THE F*** up then.

Spelling bores.

Well, there is a difference between typos and spelling errors. There is also a difference between bad grammar and language barrier.

If you're a girl and some fancy guy comes by sweet talking to you and offers to buy your next drink, you start assuming things (based on experience).

Same thing happens with spelling errors (typos not included) and bad grammar. When you see them, you start assuming things (also based on experience).

Let's not turn this into a gender discussion, it can go both ways or the same way or either way. So everyone leave it at that and keep on topic.

So on topic, I rely on spell check too, and you have one up on me James, I can't do the maths without a calculator. It's what they did when I went to school in the eighties and nineties, can't do math, here's a calculator. Test time, oh sorry no calculators allowed. Can't spell, write lines 100 times, after twenty times the correct spelling looks wrong, plus the English language...there's a reason why other languages have a hard time learning it, it's messed up. Bad grammar, red marks all over your work, but no real instruction on teaching it properly.

I think I am probably dyslexic to some extent, as I tend to transpose letters and numbers, ie it will say 79, but I will read 97.

I think Bluey was the only one that i have ever commented to on their spelling and that was just to tell him not to worry about it, that he was understandable anyway.

Bad math in posts i have commented on, but don't think i will bother with that any more. Not that you see much math in posts, with or without a calculator.

You proved my point exactly, that people assume. I don't blame you for assuming the way you did based on the history of discussions here. All I was trying to say is, sometimes people assume based on spelling and grammar errors. Oh but don't forget the disclaimers in my first reply.

These days if someone can't spell, I just assume their auto-correct is going haywire :D

I have a lot of respect for people who have a firm grasp on language and I'll even admit to having a pedantic streak at times but math makes the world go round!

I have always tried to have good spelling because in sign language i often have to fingerspell words (spell words out with my hand). So, gotta have good spelling skills for that or face confusing the other person who's trying to understand you.

Could you do my math for me? :)

I'm pretty good at both. I haven't used a calculator in many years and I don't use auto-correct or spell-checker either. Do I win anything? No?! Bah. I'm not interested then...

I don't find the occasional grammar or spelling mistake as bad as the constant abbreviations in internet conversations.
Even when people are not in a hurry at all. Normally they don't have to pay for every letter in a message anymore either. U know?
