Hello! I'm at a bit of a loss right now… I'm pretty new to the forum, so here's a quick introduction: I'm 20 years old, I'm studying art and language, and I found this site by googling "pathological loneliness." I've always been a debilitatingly anxious, love-shy introvert, and for the past couple of years, I've been nothing short of a social hermit.
This isn't my problem, though. Believe it or not, I'm quite content with my solitary lifestyle. I like to fancy myself as a lone wolf, or as some sort of reclusive, solitary creature — it's a bit silly, but whatever gets you through the day, right? Anyway, my problem is this:
A few months ago, I decided it was time to get out into the world and risk being social. I didn't have many opportunities to meet people, so at my best friend's advice, I set up a profile on OkCupid. After a little while, I started talking to someone and after about a month of exchanging lengthy messages, we decided to meet in person.
I have some misgivings about meeting people online, but thankfully, this guy was perfectly trustworthy. In fact, he was genuinely interesting
